Marshall,
There is a uuid library available in the boost sandbox. I seem to remember it having a bug on Windows, but it was quick to fix.
I checked out the whole sandbox from svn (svn url https://svn.boost.org/svn/boost/sandbox), but I'm having trouble finding a uuid library there. what would be the name of the library?

uuid_v13.zip (and other versions)
may be what you are seeking.

PS This shows that an 'incubator' site would be useful - this stuff is in use and under active refinement. It may even be in review queue. But will always benefit from more users - like you ;-)
Even more, this already has been reviewed and accepted. But the author disappeared *sigh*.
I would be willing to take over this library, Hartmut.
That would be just great. During the preparations for the review I was already inclined to reject the review request because Andy Tompkins (cc'ed) was very slow with his responses, but he promised to find time for his library. This only got worse after the review and he never even touched the library to address to the review remarks.
Perhaps it's the best if you get in direct contact with Andy asking him whether you could take over the maintenance of this library. If he doesn't respond to this, I'd say go ahead. It has been a year now since the review, so I see no reason to assume Andy is still interested.
Hi. I feel very sheepish. I have been working _slowly_ on the uuid library on my own machine. I have been trying to get it completely perfect before putting it in boost. I now believe that this has been a mistake. I would like to get it into boost. Can someone help me? I don't know exactly where it should go, how to do it, what branch, what is the process for boost? I have recently reloaded my computer. I am running windows xp. What svn program do you recommend, as I have not installed one yet and I am not familiar with any? I hope to have my library into boost tonight if possible. Regards, Andy.
Regards Hartmut
