I was downloading it from the following link: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=7586&package_id=8041 Earlier I downloaded this file: boost_1_37_0.7z Now I downloaded boost_1_37_0.tar.bz2 It seems to be compiling as I write this. This looks like the line endings in the configure script are DOS and not Unix. How did you obtain your Boost tree? From SVN or as an archive? If you download an archive, you need to choose the Unix variant to get correct line endings.
