For me (under Linux) it untars to files with protection 000, which is a tad too restrictive for most uses :-) Thanks a lot for making the pdfs available. Hugely appreciated.

Oh, so you want to be able to actually read them ? :-) I've updated the tar.gz file with - I hope - the correct permissions this time. Also added a tar.bz2 version. John.
