Is it impossible to compile the boost libraries on windows 2000 and then expect the created dll:s to work on windows XP?
No. It is not impossible. We have done exactly that without any problem at all. We didn't have to do anything special either. We used VC7.1 on Windows 2000, just as you are. I know that's not much practiacl help, but at least you now know it can be done.
