The row below is the complete line command that generates the error: "/opt/solarisstudio12.3/bin/CC" -library=stlport4 -xcode=pic32 -g -mt -erroff=%none -xldscope=hidden -m64 -DBOOST_ALL_NO_LIB=1 -DBOOST_TEST_DYN_LINK=1 -I"." -c -o "bin.v2/libs/test/build/sun/debug/address-model-64/threading-multi/visibility-hidden/execution_monitor.o" "libs/test/src/execution_monitor.cpp" If I remove the macro definition -DBOOST_TEST_DYN_LINK=1 the error disappears. For what I can understand it seems that compiler doesn't recognize the keyword __global.
