Thanks for your input, I had been using OpenSSL 0.9.8c and I updated to OpenSSL 0.9.8h and I still see the same issue. There is no change in behavior.

What about 1.0.0 beta5?

Is there anything else I could try?

Unfortunately, I don't have an experience with asio on linux. You can also try and post to asio-users list.
