[GIL] Boost gil and constexpr

Hi, It seems that the development on boost::gil is starting again on boost 1.68, and I have an advise: I think boost::gil would strongly benefits on using constexpr in the code, it would make a lot of things statically resolved. There's a huge work to put this everywhere, but I think it would be nice. Just an idea. Thanks,

Boost Spirit X3: populating different objects

Hi all, I want to design a parser that can populate two maps while parsing. They have a slightly different values (key is a string in both cases), but I didn't see an example where this was done. Hence I'm not even sure this is possible? Would be easier, otherwise I need to add another check to see what kind of value is populated before I insert it inside my maps? Boost Spirit X3 and spaces

Hi, What is the best strategy to handle spaces with X3? The files I want to parse have sometimes spaces or tabs for separators, but I also need to scan number that have an attached suffix (so x3::double_ >> *x3::char_). If now I want to parse groups of strings, starting with a rule like const auto pin = x3::rule<class pin, std::string>() = x3::alpha >> *x3::char_; what is the best to create a vector of these? *pin or pin % ' ' and will the latter also handle tabs by default? storing functions obtained with boost.dll as class fields

Hi, I'm in the process of converting a project being compiled with msvc 2017 to use boost.dll. I've got a shared library loading and need to obtain and store a function in a class-level field. The function has the following typedef: typedef error_status_t (WINAPI *nvdaControllerTestIfRunningFunc)(void); I think my main issue is what shared_libary.Get<t> returns. Any help appreciated. [GIL] read/write jpeg image from/to a buffer, not a file

Hi, Is it possible to read/write an image as JPEG from/into a memory buffer instead of a file? I found that reference which looks promising: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/16259659/read-a-jpeg-image-from-memory-… but grep -r jpeg_tag in boost/gil gives nothing (same with image_read_settings) and read_image has no documentation and not the same signature. Anyone knows something about that? F

Hey Boost, I am trying to build Boost, ideally in its entirety, with emscripten. I am using emscripten 1.38.8, and either Boost 1.67 or the 1.68.b1, and am on OSX 10.13. Both Boost versions fail. I bootstrapped as normal (`./bootstrap.sh`), and then invoke b2 to build. i want C++14, so invoke as ./b2 toolset=emscripten cxxflags=-std=c++14 I get this long message with the roadblock at the end: remove_sink for a text_file_backend backed frontend crashed in ~locale

I am running on boost_1_54 (don't ask why but cpprestsdk only compiles on SLES12 with that boost version). I have a mysterious SIGABORT similar to what's reported here: https://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_66_0/libs/log/doc/html/log/rationale/why_c… However even after I put the lines below in my application it still crashes: boost::filesystem::path::imbue(std::locale("C")); boost::filesystem::path::codecvt() I've realized that in all example code except for text_ostream_backend, the "remove_sink" call was not being used for unknown reason. So do I need to call "logging::core::get()->remove_all_sinks(); or remove_sink(sink)"? when I call my destructor for my logging module? Trying to track down a possible serialisation issue

Hi, I've been working on a bit of freeware on and off (which is probably my real issue). At some point my code began to crash when returning a deserialised object to calling code and I've now got some time to try and track down what's going on. One of my theories is that a change in Boost serialisation might be responsible. building on OS X with custom gcc version

All, I’m trying to get 1.65.1 compiled on OSX 10.13.5. I have gcc 8.1 installed and I’ve added it to user-config.jam in the home directory. When I run "bootstrap.sh —with-toolset=gcc" it uses the Darwin gcc toolset, if I try —with-toolset=gcc-8.1 I get an unknown toolset error. If I use the Darwin-based gcc version of b2 and try and build with gcc 8.1 I get this series of errors: error: No best alternative for libs/context/build/asm_sources. and also linker errors from an unknown option -h on ld. I’m assuming this is because b2 built with Darwin gcc doesn’t have the right options for gcc 8. Is there a way to force b2 to be built based on gcc 8 so it gets the assembly and linker options right? Hello, It looks like HTTP response headers are saved with trailing CRLF in the message upon receiption after (async_)read. Since it usually does not add additional valuable information, would it be possible to remove them in next version of Boost.Beast? This may be a somewhat newbie question.This is cross-posted on stack exchange before I found this list. Summarizing the error, it appears that an enable_if in cmath (line 424: std::enable_if<std::is_arithmetic<_A1>::value, bool>::type) is preventing isnan from being defined for boost::numeric::interval<double> (at least in clang++). Am I doing something wrong or is there a work around? I realize that this might be more of a std::complex question than a boost question, but since it involves boost, I thought that I'd ask here. [asio] Second connection fails

Hello, I am using boost.asio to connect a self written host. The function below is called with acceptorRanks = {0, 1}. The first connection went well, but the second one fails (to 1). It is always the second with, e.g. when called with {1, 0}, connecting to 0 fails. I took the code out of context, changed some lines for clarity, I hope you can help me! The sockets seems to connect, i.e. there is no error, but the asio::write fails with "Bad file descriptor" Wireshark only shows traffic for the first connections, nothing at all the second (when filtered by port name). The connection is always on localhost. The host to wich I connect always takes on connection per process, that is way I think the problem is with the requester. Dear boost-savvy people, I fail to understand how I need to write a working ostream overload for a type I have. I've read the boost::variant documentation. As well as stackoverflow question: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/46343138/using-stdvectorboostvariant-wi… Still I fail to understand how to make it work for the type I have. In the code you can see parameter_t is an element in the employee_t. I need to keep this data structure this way. Attached is my single 30 line problem code. I do compile with gcc 5.1.0 with C++14 support. It doesn't compile. The important part of the compiler output might be: C:\dev\boost_1_67_0/boost/variant/detail/variant_io.hpp:64:14: error: no match for 'operator<<' (operand types are 'std::basic_ostream<char>' and 'const std::vector<boost::variant<int, double> >') out_ << operand; My overload is obviously wrong. Why do socket::receive() and socket::async_receive() have different return types?

This is also true for socket::send() <https://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_58_0/doc/html/boost_asio/reference/basic_d…> and socket::async_send() <https://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_58_0/doc/html/boost_asio/reference/basic_d…> . Serialization over UDP

Hello everyone, I have no prior experience with Boost. I need to serialize an object and send it over UDP to a remote machine. I already have a completely functional serialization mechanism over TCP and I would like to convert it to UDP. Bug when using boost::optional with boost::program_options?

Before I spend too long tracking this down (I'm only seeing it in an Appveyor Windows build, since I do most of my work on Linux), I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this issue. I'm trying to use boost::program_options to parse a command line arg and store it into a boost::optional, however I get a surprising compilation error[1]. This appears to have been introduced sometime between Boost 1.60 and 1.62 (Appveyor doesn't have Boost 1.61). I see that there were some significant changes to boost::optional between those revisions, so maybe that's the cause? The following test case *might* reproduce the issue, but sadly, rextester only has Boost 1.60, so it works there[2]. If it fails for someone with Boost 1.62+, then great! (Well, not "great", but you know what I mean.) Interestingly, it's not until Boost 1.65[3] that boost::program_options claims to support storing values into boost::optional; it's worked for me since long before that, possibly because I `#include <boost/optional/optional_io.hpp>`. If this isn't enough for others to help confirm this issue, that's ok; I'll try to get a Windows dev environment set up to provide more details in the coming week. I just wanted to send this out before I forgot about it... If it matters, the Appveyor build I'm seeing this with uses Visual Studio 2015 Update 3. Dear Users, I have trouble using the following boost api. I am developing application for Non English OS. The working directory is non-english for this case. If I set the working directory to Japanese or any other non-english language, the process does not start. I have few files that need to be read from the working directory. however, if I launch the process from the cmd line (whose path is again some Unicode text) the process launches fine. boost::process:win32_launch(const Executable &exe, const Arguments &args, const Win32_Context &ctx) is there any way to support unicode path for working directory within boost? Hello, I'm trying to use Beast, it works fine and looks promising. Unfortunately, it looks like (unless I'm wrong) that there is no facilities to parse URL parameters or POST data. Such as /foo&option1=1&option2=2 Or simply form data: option1=1&option2=2 Are there plans to add such things or is definitely a non-goal of Boost Beast? Regards, -- David

Hi, I'm trying to use boost_iostream in a way that is probably not intented. My use case is the following, I have a C++ stream. I want to read its first bytes to determine if its gzip or Bzip2 or none of those, putback the characters to the stream and then create the appropriate pipeline to read the stream. Ideally, I'd then restart the procedure, so that I can incrementally build a pipeline based on the successive magic numbers read at the begining of the stream after different level of decoding. Imagine a file that has been gzipped and uuencoded. Let's call its stream ifs. Reading the first bytes of ifs, I would detect that it's an uuencoded file, so I construct a pipeline ifs1 = ifs | uudecode. Reading the first bytes of ifs1, I would detect that it's a gzipped file, and will construct a new pipeline ifs2 = ifs | uuencode | gzip (the reverse ordering for reading pipelines does not help here, but I can manage that). And so on.... Unfortunately, this does not work as I'm expecting it. The attached code is a small example showing the problem. When, reading the stream after having pushed the gzip filter (line 23), I get an exception. boost::exception_detail::clone_impl<boost::exception_detail::error_info_injector<boost::iostreams::gzip_error> > Digging a little with gdb seems to show that the putback buffer is somehow lost, so the gzip filter does not read the proper header and hence the exception. The raw in.read does not throw exceptions but returns random bytes after the first 1f.... What is strange is that if I do the sequence: in.push(file); read(in,buffer,1); putback(in,buffer[0]); in.pop(); in.push(file); read(in,buffer,1); std::cout << std::hex << static_cast<int>(static_cast<unsigned char>(buffer[0])) << std::endl; putback(in,buffer[0]); The second read correctly reads the character put back (1f), but the second putback triggers an exception (putback buffer full). If the first read/putback is done directly on file, everything works as expected. I'm really stuck at this point, so any help would be welcome.... I hope there is a way to use boost_iostreams to achieve what I want to do. Thank's in advance for any clue on how to solve this... Theo.

[asio] continuous reads into streambuf

Hello all, once again I find myself struggling with asio streambufs but wanted to ask here before chicken out to char buffers again. My problem is that I cannot read more than one protocol loop successfully. I got a TCP connection here that continuously receives messages on a simple protocol like that: header_size CRLF header (contains payload size) payload <repeat> I thought this is a prime use case for reading into a streambuf as I can easily deal with additional data being in there and the client pushing as fast as it can. As in never calls its handler. From debugging and looking at the streambuf I can reasonably assume the buffer contains all the data after the first async_read_until because the packages are very small (only about 60 bytes total). This leads me to believe the transfer_exactly don't return unless something is actually really transferred. But if such is the case, why does the first loop succeed? I am quite lost here. Boost Process continuously read output

Hi, I'm trying to read outputs/logs from different processes and display them in a GUI. The processes will be running for long time and produce huge output. I'm planning to stream the output from those processes and display them according to my needs. All the while allow my gui application to take user inputs and perform other actions. What I've done here is, from main thread launch two threads for each process. One for launching the process and another for reading output from the process. Boost and Intellisense

Hi, I'm developing a windows application using boost libraries. Unfurtunately, some parameters of it are totally out of my control, nor I have the leverage needed to change it. Namely, - the application *must* use Visual C++ 9.0 runtime - the IDE to be used is capped at Visual Studio 2013 - to avoid problems with other related projects, the boost release should be 1.54.0 (here I have a modicum of liberty, as far as the previous two conditions are satisfied) I may live whit all of the above, however Intellisense has some glitches that are annoying me. For one, it appears unable to recognize the boost::asio::ip namespace. If I define a variable as, for instance boost::asio::ip::udp::endpoint ep; Intellisense marks 'ip' in red and keeps saying that ep is undefined (and consequently doesn't offer completion for its methods). I have tried including directly boost/asio/ip/udp.hpp and also putting an "using boost::asio::ip::udp" before the above definition as in #include <boost/asio/ip/udp.hpp> using boost::asio::ip::udp; udp::endpoint ep; but nothing changes (I'll gladly post a screenshot if I knew which is the accepted way to post images to this list). It should be noted that, aside from this and some analogous problems, Intellisense works fine, making the above even more annoying. Hello (Thomas Heller, Joel de Guzman :-) ) In /usr/include/boost/phoenix/object/construct.hpp, there appears this preprocessor test on this macro BOOST_PHOENIX_NO_VARIADIC_EXPRESSION whereby the code either: 1. includes boost/phoenix/object/detail/cpp03/construct_expr.hpp , or 2. defines a expression inline Is that macro used to workaround some compiler limitations (and/or c++ std version) back in the day? I work with g++7 and std=c++14, and boost 1.64, and yet somehow boost/phoenix/object/detail/cpp03/construct_expr.hpp is included, and somewhere down the line a compilation error happens. Boost Graph Library(biconnected_components) issue

Hi, I am working on the Boost Graph Library, currently trying to create an interface of the biconnected_components method to a Python code. I used the example code available here <https://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_67_0/libs/graph/example/biconnected_compon…> for the method and modified it for my purpose. The template of the method is here <https://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_67_0/libs/graph/doc/biconnected_components…>. The final code seems fine but I get an error while compiling it. And the errors are related to adjacency.hpp which I have not changed so I'm confused as to what the exact problem is. Hoping someone can help me out.
