Yes, if I remove all lib it does run successfully. I identified that tests run from TinyXML lib (opensource). I have to link with other libraries because the code I have to test depends on them. I am just creating tast case to narrow down the problem. I will look in 1.34.o but probably I could not. I will apriceate any solution how to disable particular testing suit (from TinyXML). I could not physically remove those test from the lib. [Regex] Link error with G++ 3.3.2, but Okay with 3.4.5

[Matrix iterators] Beginner problem

Hello everyone, I don't understand how to use iterators with matrices; how can I scan all the elements of a matrix? [program_options] add_options method hangs on Linux

Hi, I have a piece of code that runs both on Windows and Linux. I am using program_options library to read a settings file. This seems to work fine on windows, but on Linux the same code hangs when I call add_options method. I am using Boost 1.34 on both machines. I have the following class hierarchy: AbstractBase <--- AbstractDerived <---- ConcreteDerived I managed to make the serialization of AbstractBase using text and binary archives (text_[i/o]archive, binary_[i/o]archive), tested, and works fine. scoped_ptr, shared_ptr and pimpl

I have an object that uses scoped_ptr to point to it's impl...an incomplete type forward declared in the header and implemented in the cpp file. This object *does have a user defined destructor*! This user defined destructor is defined after the opaque type has been fully defined in the same cpp file. In another cpp file I have a function that lives in the same namespace as the object in question, which creates a shared_ptr to this object. I'm getting the "undefined type" error in checked_delete for the impl object. I've run into this problem before but it was because I did not have a user defined destructor for the outer object...now I do. I even created a blank destructor for the impl, something I've never had to do before. What gives? Any ideas where to look for the problem? My simplest program that exhibits the problem doesn't exhibit the problem...I find this frustrating.

Hello everybody, I've seen that boost::posix_time supports a conversion function time_t from_time_t(ptime t) I've also seen on the mailing list, that something related to this issue has already been discussed. However, I've not found enough information (browsing ML and bug support) to understand if this issue is considered closed, or if anyone has never run into similar problems: We're using this function, and a counterpart ptime to_time_t(time_t) function because our application interacts with a MySQL db where date information is stored as unix timestamp. While processing the data, we run in a problem (I won't say 'bug') because MySQL and boost give different meaning to unix timestamp. For example, timestamp 1184795149 is 2007-Jul-18 23:45:49 (local time) for MySQL and it is 2007-Jul-18 21:45:49 (local time) for boost. The correct value is the first one. My current timezone offset is 2 hours, so you can see that we are missing UTC here. Checking the code, I've seen that the function basically converts by adding the number of second to 1/1/1970 0:0:0; however, it should be 1/1/1970 0:0:0 UTC, which is not. Jeff Garland touches this issue in this post: http://aspn.activestate.com/ASPN/Mail/Message/1758411 where he encourages C++ developer to move away from the time_t interface; however, often, for legacy reason, this may not be possible (as in our application). Why intrusive_ptr destructor can throw exceptions?

Hello! I found another difference between shared_ptr and intrusive_ptr behavior: * shared_ptr destructor never throw exceptions; * intrusive_ptr destructor can throw exceptions. In my opinion, ~intrusive_ptr() should not throw exceptions too, because current behavior is much complicated and fraught with memory leak bugs.

[program_options]: Unicode option name and description

I understand how to make option values unicode, but don't know how to make something like generic->add_options() (L"ärrä,ä", L"ä option") ; work correctly. Looking at the headers it looks like this is impossible, because operator() is not a template<charT> class as many others. Another thing: How can I make the default argument not to show in the options_description printing and change the "arg" argument placeholder? Right now ("dir,d", po::value<string>()->default_value("."), "dirDesc") prints out cout << *opts; -> ... -d [--dir] arg(=.) dirDesc ... problem porting code using spirit parser to v1.34.0

Hi, I'm having trouble porting some code to use v1.34.0 of boost. We are using the spirit parser and have found that strings containing trailing white space are not parsed as before. The following code is a simple example of the problem. This code works with boost 1.33.1 but not 1.34.0. Can anyone help explain why the code no longer works and what we should do to fix the problem? I am using Cygwin's g++ 3.4.4 and the official Cygwin Boost package version 1.33.1. How to link Boost libraries statically, but with dynamic runtime?

I know there are some messages on this subject, but none of them gave me the answer or then I just didn't understand it. I'm trying to link some boost libraries statically to my program, but at the same time link the standard libraries dynamically. I have little experience ( == a total noob) in the linking process. I'm using ld version 2.16.1 and g++ version 4.1.2 on Linux. My /usr/lib has files like libboost_regex.so libboost_regex-s.a (the same for multi-threaded progs) Actually I'm unable even to link everything statically: ld <obj-files> -Bstatic -lboost_filesystem-s -lboost_program_options-s -lboost_regex-s -o prog fails. Also trying to link runtime dynamically with ld <obj-files> -Bstatic -lboost_filesystem-s -lboost_program_options-s -lboost_regex-s -Bdynamic -o prog fails. I also tried to ar/ranlib the so object files into .a archives (not sure if it can help in any case) and then link them as above, but it didn't work either (similar linking errors). Linking everything dynamically works, but I want to learn how to link libraries statically. Thanks, niko

Problem installing Boost MPI on Windows with MPICH 1.2.5

I'm testing out Boost MPI on Windows following the description in http://www.generic-programming.org/~dgregor/boost.mpi/doc/mpi/getting_start… I've installed MPICH 1.2.5 (the only one of the tested MPI implementations that works with Windows) in C:\Program Files\MPICH; have checked out boost from the CVS repository; and have bjam 3.1.13. bjam --with-mpi then complains about not finding MPI. For example, I tried adding to user-config.jam the following: using mpi : : "C:/Program Files/MPICH/SDK/Lib/mpich.lib" ; Running bjam --with-mpi --debug-configuration then gives: warning: toolset mpi initialization: can't find tool mpirun ... error: 'C:/Program Files/MPICH/SDK/Lib/mpich.lib' is not a valid for property specification Unfortunately I can't figure out how to interpret the following (from the documentation): If your MPI implementation does not have a wrapper compiler, or the MPI auto-detection code does not work with your MPI's wrapper compiler, you can pass MPI-related options explicitly via the second parameter to the mpi module: using mpi : : <find-shared-library>lammpio <find-shared-library>lammpi++ <find-shared-library>mpi <find-shared-library>lam <find-shared-library>dl ; What are the "MPI-related options"? If anyone has succeeded in getting Boost MPI working on Windows (with Visual Studio .NET) and with any MPI implementation, I'd appreciate hearing how they configured it. [wave] Revisited: build errors (partially applies to RC3)

Hello Hartmut! I looked through the wave Jamfile.v2 and was able (???) to fix compilation and linking errors of a newer wave release. First error was that I could not build wave only lib. This was caused by the line nr. 34 (RC3) there is written: /boost/filesystem//boost_filesystem The correct filesystem reference at least on my Windows XP VC80 Express Edition machine is: /boost//filesystem The next issue relates to the changes you did where linking errors happen. To fix this issue I added a dependency (don't know if this was a correct way to do...) to the thread library: /boost//thread At the line 35. This dependency is only needed if wave head is compiled. I still have a problem that during the initialization phase of wave/spirit's static variables my app crashes. May be you can currently switch off the multi-threaded support in the head revision (or make it available via a macro???), so that I can take files with the conditional processing feature only. Otherwise I am currently blocked because I can either select MT with conditional processing (=>app crashes) or ST without conditional processing. Would be great to get ST with conditional processing. The app crashes during the parsing of file: boost\wave\util\cpp_macromap_predef.hpp line 166. // __SPIRIT_PP_VERSION__/__WAVE_VERSION__ boost::wave::util::time_conversion_helper const compilation_time(__DATE__ " " __TIME__); May be there is an assertion, but Visual Studio unfortunately does not show this.
