Just by including: "boost/thread.hpp", which includes "boost/bind.hpp" you pollute the namespace. If you also use Boost.Lambda, you must change _1 to boost::lambda::_1. Is this going to be fixed? Any workarounds?

Hello, I have a Class A with string attributes that I serialize in XML format: Class A { public: string _nom; string _prenom; template<class Archive> void serialize(Archive& ar, const unsigned in version){ ar & boost::serialization::make_nvp("Nom", _nom); ar & boost::serialization::make_nvp("Prenom", _prenom); } } The object is correctly saved using this code: A _a; void save() const { ... oTextArchive::xml_oarchive oTextArchive(ofile); oTextArchive << make_nvp("A", _a); ... } But I want to reload the object, the A attributes aren't updated and keep the previous values: void load() { ... iTextArchive::xml_oarchive iTextArchive(ifile); iTextArchive >> make_nvp("A", _a); ... } The only way I found to reload my object is to use an temporary object: void load() { ... A _tmp; iTextArchive::xml_oarchive iTextArchive(ifile); iTextArchive >> make_nvp("A", _tmp); _a = _tmp; ... } Why can't I update the object directly? Thanks for your help.

Hi All, I am new to boost library .. so apology if I am asking a silly question. We are planning to use boost thread in our project. We will like to know whether it is possible to use only Thread related files.. without installing the whole boost library?? Is there any way we can pull out only thread related files (some additional dependencies should be fine) in boost library and implement in our project. Please let us Know ASAP. I'm trying to use interprocess_condition::timed_wait without success. I never get the timeout in my code. I think I don't understand at all how posix_time works. Problem with boost::any?

Hello. I'm working with boost::any and shared_ptr. I'm implementing a plugin system which uses registration from .so files (under Linux). The problem is that I have a factory function which returns boost::any. This boost::any object holds a pointer type. The problem is that when I try to get the registered type back to its real type through boost::any_cast, the cast always fails. I've been trying to debug the problem for almost 4 hours with no luck.

Hello, In my application I use a few async state-machines with lots of events. Hi, The following code when compiled by defining UDT will use a UDT as Sample (without the define, will use double). Some part of code is creating an object (when UDT) is used as acc_sample(0) and that is shown in min. In the following example, I am adding 3 samples and the count confirms that. My software is a plug-in for Photoshop compatible image editors. For some reasons (third-party lib problems with re-initialize in same process) software was splitted to "Thunk" (loaded into host process) and "Main" (started as separated process) modules. Last days I was busy trying to replace socket-based data exchange with boost.interprocess And encountered a BIG PROBLEM: Non-universal binary host runs under PowerPC-emulation (as well as my universal-binary "Thunk"), but "Main" executes x86 code. Two different processors -- x86 and emulated PowerPC -- have access to interprocess_* private uint32_t's, treating memory as MSB (PowerPC) and LSB (x86) simultaneously. Any ideas? -- Ivan Kharin

[Q] shared_ptr less than operator for std::set

I am trying to use shared_ptr in std::set and std::vector. For std::set I was expecting that when I define a less than comparasing operation in my class (wrapped by shared ptr) -- it would actually get invoked. Instead I think it is the less than of the shared_ptr that is being invoked So I do not get the ordering I expect in my std::set container. Therefore wanted to ask -- how can it be done, that the operator.< of my class and not the shared_ptr's is being used by std::set I searched for posting on this subject but did not come up with the solution. Hi, I am using boost::accumulator for finding min (among other things). It works fine when I use a POD as Sample. ex: accumulator_set< double, features <tag::min> > acc; acc(1.0); acc(5.0); .... I have my own data type, time stamp and value. I would like to get the min Sample with corresponding time stamp. class time_val { public: time_t _time; double _value; /* I have overloaded operators: <, >, ==, != */ /* Have provided copy constructor */ }; When I try: accumulator_set< time_val, features <tag::min> > acc; I get a whole lot of compilation errors. Bulding Boost.Python on OSX

Forgive me, but it doesn't look like the specific Boost.Python list is active so I'm posting this here. I followed the relevant directions and built Boost.Python on my Mac using bjam, which gave the following output: ...patience... ...patience... ...found 1356 targets... ...updating 54 targets... <snip> ...failed updating 1 target... ...skipped 6 targets... ...updated 47 targets... I now see embedding.o and extending.o in the bin/gcc-4.01/debug directory within the quickstart directory. But when I run test_extending.py, the script fails and gives "ImportError: No module named extending". How do I get the python script to import the extending module? Thank you for your time.

Ok, I apologize I misunderstood the suggestion I made the function as non static member, but kept the input argument. If I make myfunc to take void, then it works. Link Boost::Python statically

Hello, I'm trying to link my Python extension module with static version of Boost::Python library. According to documentation, the auto_link facility should by default supply the library for static linking (libboost_python-vc80-mt-gd-1_38.lib in my case). Unfortunately it doesn't work that way for me - I get the import lib by default and have to supply boost_python dll. If I specifically provide the statically linked lib to the linker I get errors that symbols are defined multiple times by both the static library and the import library. I was able to link statically by: - defining BOOST_ALL_NO_LIB, - defining BOOST_PYTHON_STATIC_LIB, - adding libboost_python-vc80-mt-gd-1_38.lib to link libraries. While this worked I have a strong feeling that it's not the way it was meant to be. I'm using Visual Studio 2005 to compile my project (it's a Win32 DLL project), I'm using Boost 1.38 that I have compiled with bjam (which probably isn't relevant). All boost's *.lib files are in the same directory so they should be all accessible to the linker. I'm not aware of any BOOST_*_DYN_LINK being set (I have never set any Boost related defines other than the above. If you have any tips on how to verify that, I'd be grateful). Could you help me with this problem? Is there anything I should check that would cause the DLL to be used by default? -- Marcin Simonides

problem with boost regex search

hello, When I enter the following reg-ex: "^.*ab+c+d+" for the following text: "aaaabbbcccdddee" the text found is:"aaaabbbcccd". The text found should be: "aaaabbbcccddd". Digging deeper, its seems that the reg-ex function ignores the last character if it is a "+". This is just using boost::regex_search with the flags = boost::match_any and boost::match_not_null Am I missing something here?
