[python] Exported class as mixin

Hi, I wonder if anyone can give me a hand with this problem here: I've got exported class: class_<MyInterface>( "MyInterface" ) ... And I've got class in Python: class ABC(object): ... I am doing some processing of the class definition in Python and want to be able to do the following (clazz here is ABC: clazz.__bases__ = (MyInterface,) + clazz.__bases__ I am getting following error: TypeError: __bases__ assignment: 'MyInterface' deallocator differs from 'object' I can add mixins defined in Python fine. Only mixins exported from C++ giving me a problem. Any advise? Gennadiy

BOOST_CHECK_EQUAL_COLLECTIONS fails to compile when comparing vector<wstring>

Hi, I am using Windows XP, boost 1.38 and mingw 3.4.5 (Code::Blocks IDE). I cannot compile BOOST_CHECK_EQUAL_COLLECTIONS when using wstring. CHECK_EQUAL_COLLECTIONS(v2, v2); // this gives me the error listed below (at the end). Searching for a solution I've found this: http://lists.boost.org/boost-users/2005/09/13720.php And in fact, adding the code below solves it. namespace std { ostream& operator << (ostream& ostr, wstring const& str) { ostr << boost::lexical_cast<wstring>(str); return ostr; } } However this seems somewhat clumsy to me. I do not like the idea of doing a cast like this that obviously can fail if the wstring has a wide char that cannot be mapped to char properly. And it seems inappropriate to require the user to define such a thing. Is there a better way of solving this ? Can anything be done in the unit test framework itself to solve this in a better way ? Hi, I'm trying to use Boost.Test (dynamic variant) in a dll that also uses MFC. I'm using the console_test_runner application found in libs/test/tools to load my dll. My compiler is MSVC v8 and my OS is Windows Vista. Unfortunately, when the MFC dll gets unloaded prior to shutdown it invokes the CRT's memory leak detection routine which falsely reports that any memory allocated by the (yet to be unloaded) unit test framework has been leaked. Obviously, the problem here is with MFC and searching the 'net will yield numerous complaints on the topic. One such search turned up a promising workaround [1] that involves installing a custom report handler to "swallow" the extraneous memory leak reports. However it appears this approach is defeated by Boost.Test installing its own report handler when no debugger is present. Can anybody suggest a different workaround? The problem effectively renders Boost.Test unusable in this configuration when MFC is present. [Bind] creating a functio

I'm in the process of figuring out how to use the bind library. The section on operators seems to me missing the "," operator. I see || and && operators which would seem well suited to wrapping a few functions into one - but these would only work for functions returning a bool. How can/should one proceed to get the same functionality of && with function objects which return void? It looks to me that the "," operator should be in there. Robert Ramey

serialization singleton assert on iphone

Hi, I have an assert when exiting my application using the serialization lib of boost 1.38. On the iphone, the load/save code works well as long as it's not called when the application exit. As far I as I understand, I need to move my exit code somewhere else, when those singleton are still allocated. Can somebody confirm that? Or maybe I'm missing something... Reading key-value pairs from a string

Dear boost-users, I am currently working on a C++ project that includes reading and parsing some files. Given a string with certain file contents S, I would like to attempt to compare it against a certain pattern. In particular, the contents have the form key : value. Certain keys are obligatory, while others may or may not exist (my program then supplies the default values). Can you recommend me a boost facility that can help me reading this type of data? My problem is that between key, : and value there could be blank spaces, tabs etc. The type of value could be a string, an int, or double. Thanks in advance!

[program_options] Obtaining parameter order

Hi everyone, I'm writing a program that needs to know the order that parameters are supplied in, but I can't find anything in the docs about this. For example, a program to work with .zip files might work like this: zip --rename=one.bin:alpha.bin --add=one.bin --rename=one.bin:beta.bin The initial --rename would need to be acted upon first, before --add (otherwise one.bin would get overwritten) and likewise the last --rename must be acted upon after --add, otherwise the wrong file (or no file) would be renamed. If I use normal string vectors the order of the parameters will be lost so this won't work. Is this sort of parsing possible with program_options, or will I need to resort to writing my own command-line parsing code? Thanks, Adam.

Cant find boot/foreach.hpp files

I have build boost_1_38_0 with bjam on RedHat Entriprise 5.The bjam command is"bjam �toolset=gcc �build-type=complete install" When I compile cello99 trace DateSeries(A application based on boost), a error occur "boost/foreach.hpp: No such file or directory". I notice that in the directory "/usr/local/include/boost-1_38/boost" there exists the file "foreach.hpp". But in the directory"/usr/include/boost" do not have foreach.hpp file. I have tried other version boost_1_37 and boost_1_35.I dont know why? Could anyone help me? 2009-04-13 wuguangjun

Fixed-point decimal library in boost?

Hi I scanned through the boost-users list and it seems that there was a proposed Fixed-point decimal libary in the past(around 2003) which was rejected. I was wondering if there is a related library that was accepted in boost, that allows us to do fixed point arithmetic in a portable, reliable way: My first attempt was to scan through the Boost.math libary but have not found my way through the documentation. I am using VS2005. Unfortunately, I do not have access to gcc at the moment to validate this (dig further). Hello. I compiled a python module with msvc for python2.6 under windows xp. Under linux everything's ok, but under windows xp, I don't know what happens, I get an ImportError: DLL Load failed. I set sys.path to the directory containing the module, but no luck until now. Is it a problem with boost.python. I don't know what to think. Thanks for your help.

[GIL] How can I in-place convert some part of view to grayscale.

Hi, I have a rgb8_image_t::view_t view, and I want to convert some part of it to grayscale within its region, for example: 0,0,100,100 (x,y,width,height) How can I do this? [extension]: g++ '-O2' optimization w/ type_map access thru member template function

Hi, I'm a happy user of boost::extension library. Thanks Jeremy Pack et al. for this great work, and hope it'll be accepted by Boost soon. My extension library is dowloaded from http://boost-extension.blogspot.com/ (August 14, 2008 Link), which works great for me when compiled with "-O0" optimization flag in g++ (my version: i686-apple-darwin9-g++-4.0.1). But, when I compile with -O2 and access type_map object through member template function, g++ seems to optimize away the initialization logic for 'type_map', and I'd get signal assertion of EXC_BAD_ACCESS. I'm not sure if this is a generic g++ optimization problem, or specific to boost::extension library. But, for me, it seems to happen only for type_map data structure, but not others. smaller / decoupled `filesystem' module?

I recently had a need to fix some code which got a list of files in a directory, and needed to work across Linux / OS X 10.4+ / Windows. I was thinking of unifying it to use boost filesystem instead of some `#if not posix, do this, #else use opendir/readdir/etc. code.' So I turned to boost.filesystem. We're including boost piecemeal in our repo, and so I went to add it and adapt `filesystem' to our build system. Upon build, it seemed to require some additional boost headers, so I added them; goto 10. After a bit of this, I realized the new boost code was quite a bit larger than my entire ~5 meg repository up to that point: I'd needed to pull in MPL, for example, which is over > 6 meg. This is a minor part of the application we're writing, so I can't really justify the size. Has anybody out there written a `decoupled' filesystem, with less dependencies on other boost libraries? Even a trimmed down version would probably suit or needs for quite some time. Thanks, -tom
