Hello all, we use these macro's to be more portable, but are these 'official' Boost functionality? they are defined in <boost/detail/interlocked.hpp> which made me doubt. Ofc better to use atomics in future, bit no time for that right now.

boost.org/users/license.html page out of date and misleading?

http://www.boost.org/users/license.html says "Currently, some Boost libraries have their own licenses." Is this correct in stating that some Boost libraries don't use the Boost Software License? If so, what is an example of a Boost library that does not use the Boost Software License? Is there a definitive list of which libraries don't use the Boost Software License? I discussed this on the #boost irc channel today, and it was suggested that the license.html page is out of date, and that all of the Boost libraries have already been updated to use the Boost Software License. If this is indeed the case, can we please update the license.html page? Thanks

Mixing signals2 and asio mechanism failing

I've the following: <1> a single instance of io_service object with a program life-time and several threads calling it's run() method. io_service::work is given to it so that it never terminates (unless we stop it). <2> class A which has boost::signals2::signal connecting functions for callback. * async operations (eg., async_read_until, async_write etc) <3> class B which is derived from std::shared_from_this ; * has a composition of class A as std::unique_ptr which is instantiated in B's constructor ; <c> has functions/listeners which are registered with signals of class A (eg., signals2::connection connectionObj = uniqPtrA->someSig.connect([=]{shared_from_this_ptrB->listenerFuncOfB();}); <4> Another thread outside the thread-pool of <1> above which instantiates (and manages) class B: auto ptrB = std::make_shared(); //and further operations. The problem is when I need to destroy ptrB I can't. For instance, i call some method of class B on ptrB to clear all connections it has with class A and allow ptrB to go out of scope, but class B destructor is never called: {//local scope auto ptrB = std::make_shared(); ptrB->connectListenersToA(); /* eg auto self = shared_from_this(); connectionObj = uniqPtrA->someSig.connect([=]{self ->listenerFuncOfB();}); referring to <3> above */ //... do some operations ptrB->disconnectListenersWithA(); //eg connectionObj.disconnect(); referring to <3> above }//Scope ends I want ptrB to destroy the underlying pointer. The ptrB destructor is never called because signals2::connection::disconnect does not seem to wipe out the given slot so the shared_ptr reference of B remains with the signal in class A as anonymous functor (due to lambda in <3> above) containing it does not get destroyed. No success with VS2013 and Boost 1.55b1

Using the attached batch file (below) to make Boost 1.55 beta 1 - I did NOT have success building Boost 1.55b1 with the release version of VS2013. I was however on a different PC able to build Boost with successfully with this batch file using VS2012. Others have reported successful builds using VS2013 – am I missing something new? Does boost::unordered_map<> work with boost::container::scoped_adaptor?

*context *our code base uses boost 1.54 with GCC 4.4.7 on CentOS 6, compiling as C++98. we're interested in using an allocator with state with the standard containers, so are investigating the boost container library in boost 1.54, in particular, instantiating these containers with a boost::container::scoped_allocator_adaptor<MyArena> style argument. *questions* 1) i notice that boost::unordered_xxx<> is not part of the boost container library. does this mean that these classes are not aware of the C++11 allocator model? a casual inspection of the code suggests that this might be the case 2) if so, has anyone here tried to patch them, port them, or the like? 3) if not, can anyone here offer thoughts or advice on how i might attempt to do so myself? rgerads, Jonathon Bell Paradigm 4

[Locale] linking against static ICU library

Hi, Is there a problem with building Boost.Locale against the static ICU libraries? I have quickly looked through the respective Jamfile, but I don't see it being supported. Could anyone give me a hint or two on how to modify the Jamfile to link against static ICU (they are prefixed with "s", e.g. sicuXXX.lib) ? [MPL] How to generate pre-generated header files for lists containing more than 50 entries?

Hello MPL experts, I want to code a state machine which has a reaction list containing more than 50 entries. I found here [http://svn.boost.org/svn/boost/trunk/libs/mpl/preprocessed/] some python scripts to generate header files for lists containing more than 50 entries. But I cannot manage to generate a single header file. Can someone please explain to me how to use these scripts? I also didn't find any help in boost documention. Command line messages of the related script were also not helpful for me: preprocess_list.py Usage: preprocess_list.py <mode> <boost_root> [<source_file>] Purpose: updates preprocessed version(s) of the header(s) in "boost\mpl\list\aux_\preprocessed" directory Example: the following command will re-generate and update all 'apply.hpp' headers: preprocess_list.py all f:\cvs\boost apply.cpp What is the meaning of [<source_file>] here? And how/where do I have to specify the count of list entries in order to generate the header files "list60.hpp", "list70.hpp" and so on? Thanks for any help you could provide. Regards, Klaus

String algorithm? Removing non-alphanumerics from a string

Hi, Takeing an std::string as input, I need to return the same string with any characters not in the ranges "az", "AZ" and "09" being discarded. A colleague told me that a could use something in the string algorithm library, but I'm obviously not spotting what I need. I tried regex replace, but failed, as I'm not understanding regular expressions yet. Any and all suggestions would be gratefully received. Best wishes. Tim Burgess
