Hello mpl experts, I'm trying to initialize the elements of an array using rules defined in a list of structures. The code below illustrate what I'm trying to achieve. The problem I have with this code is that the First_Descriptor structure contain this index member that will be used to access the right item of the array. This is not nice because it force the writer of this structure to deal with implementation details. Is there a way to get rid of this index typedef in the *_Descriptor structures by using another construct from the mpl that would generate it ? // The array I need to initialize. BGL in mangaged C++ (.Net )

Has anyone had success running the BGL from with managed C++ code? I have code that compiles fine, but at runtime throws a .Net exception called TypeLoadException. Googleing and documentation I have read are no help. The graph used is a plain vanilla adjacency_list<> and the exception occurs durring the resize operation of the vertex vector. thanks in advance bille

I think typically the solution is to just prefix std:: to everything. Once you get used to doing it, it doesn't even seem cumbersome anymore. Is it possible to have a member variable in a bind expression or do I need to have an accessor method for the variable? E.g. Bidirectionnal filtered multigraph

I've created a bidirectional filtered multigraph from an adjacency_list with vectorS and listS as containers for the vertices and egdes respectively. It seems the function edge(u,v,g) does not work properly for this kind of graph. I can detect the existence of an edge (u,v) if I iterate explicitly through the out_edges of the filtered graph but not if I use edge() directly on the filtered graph. Also, I get an exception when I remove an edge that was invisible to the edge(u,v,g) function while the bidirectionnal version of remove_edge for adjacency_list is erasing the edge ID form the in_edge list of the graph. [BGL] Importing adjacency list from a txt file

Hi, I've got a file with the adjacency list of a graph, where each line contains the node index followed by the index of nodes that are adjacent to it (comma-separated). One of the lines of this file could read like: 1,3,4 This would mean that node '1' is adjacent to nodes '3' and '4' (undirected & unweighted graph). I'm declaring it as: typedef adjacency_list < vecS, vecS, undirectedS, no_property, no_property > Graph; Graph g; My question is: is there a simple way of reading the adjacency list into the graph from my txt file? I found Kevin_Bacon, but was looking for something more powerful. Then I found adjacency_list_io.cpp (is it documented?), but it wouldn't compile on MSVC. Am I missing something obvious? Thanks, Rui

bind and weak pointers

What is the prefered method of creating a boost::function<void()>, via boost bind, that is calling a member function of a class, and that class instance is held inside the bind object as a weak ptr. Thus, when the function is called, it will try to lock the shared_ptr, if successful it calls the bound function, otherwise it does nothing. Is there an standard way of doing this? Or do I have to write my own custom intermediate function? (which is how I do it now). Jeff

lambda and shared_ptr

Hello boost-users(a)lists.boost.org, It seems to me that currently lambda's bind does not support shared_ptr as a second argument to bind, when first argument is a pointer-to-member. But boost::bind handles it perfectly. It would be nice for me to be able to write something like this: using namespace boost::lambda; struct SomeClass { int member1; }; boost::shared_ptr<SomeClass> ptr(new SomeClass); (bind(&SomeClass::member1, ptr) = _1)(5); Is it possible with current implementation of lambda? Accessing Internal Properties

I'm using BGL checked out of CVS on Tue Jun 29 05:25:17 EDT 2004. Also using gcc 3.4.1 on a linux machine. I've a question of how to access internal properties. It appears that there are basically two templated function families for this: get - returns a value get_property_iter_range - returns iterator range get_property - returns a reference Are there more? I'm interested in the later. I've seen in the examples get_property being used to access properties global to a graph, but not edge or vertex properties. What I'd like to see is a varient of get_property (or equivalent) that takes an edge descriptor, so it provides access to a particular edge's named property. Does what I'm looking for exist?

HI, I'm starting a project that uses boost.graph and I'm trying to decide if I should use internal or external properties. My code that implements external properties is like, for example: typedef boost::graph_traits <GraphT>::vertex_descriptor Vertex; typedef std::map<Vertex,Vertex_Datum,ltDescriptor<Vertex> > VertexData; My question is: Given my use of Vertex as a key of a std::map, it needs to be unique. Is this uniqueness quality maintained across different graphs? That is, can I instanciate 2 GraphT objects and populate both, but maintain only one VertexData container? Assume that I am not defining any internal properties in GraphT.

Vertex properties in BGL

I would like to use the BGL for a project I'm working on, but I haven't been able to find a particular piece of information. The system I'm modeling can be easily represented by a directed graph, but it seems that an essential vertex property can only be calculated on the fly based on the current in-edge and out-edge as the graph is traversed. Can this be supported in the BGL in a way which can feed this vertex property to the supplied algorithms?

I don't know exactly how you are traversing those nodes in the path, - ie how do find the path -, but as far as I know you have to use a visitor with an algorithm such as dijisktra shortest paths, so you define the event point, on_finish_vertex for example where you want the visitor to be called. This algorithm also stores in a vector the minimum weight pahts encountered from an specific origin vertex so you can go over those paths from the last vertex to this origin. I'm trying to write generic boost::serialization functions for boost:indexed_set and I'm in a bit over my head. The serialization docs say to use something like the following for generic types: template<class Archive, class T> inline void save( Archive & ar, const std::auto_ptr<T> &t, const unsigned int file_version ){ ar << t.get(); } This is a non-intrusive save function for std::auto_ptr. The tricky thing is that the template parameters for indexed_set are much more complicated and the default index may either be regular (set-like) or sequenced (list-like). How would this be handled?

I am often facing the same thing again and again. Say I have a map: map< int, Foo* > m; and I would like to invoke method of Foo on all instances std::for_each(m.begin(), m.end(), boost::bind(&Foo::method, _1 ); The problem is that map contains pair of key and value, not Foo*. Usually I create some function taking pair and invoking method needed on .second. But maybe there is another way to do that? Thanks! Vytautas

Hello! I am new to the boost lambda library so this might be a naive question. Here goes. Running boost::thread compiled on w2k on XP

I have tried compiled boost::thread for windows using visual c++ from the visual studio .net 2003 suite. It compiles fine and I can compile things with the created libraries. However, when I move my program and the boost::thread dll:s from windows 2000 to another machine running windows XP, the program just prints out a blank line and exits without any other message. Attached is a program I have used to test out that it is this that is wrong. What have I done wrong? Is it impossible to compile the boost libraries on windows 2000 and then expect the created dll:s to work on windows XP? If this is the case, where can I get hold of the boost::thread libraries for vc71 compiled specifically for windows XP? If not, what could be wrong? /Ragnar Ouchterlony

Here's the formula I want to reproduce in uBLAS: K=P*Mt*(M*P*Mt+R)^-1 Where K, P, M, and R are matrices, and Mt is the transpose of M. Assign and MultiArray conflict with precompiled headers

Hi. I'm trying out the recently accepted Assign library, and also the MultiArray library, which is new to me. I'm in VC7.1, and using the post review version of Assign. Depending on the order I include the libraries in my precompiled header, the linker complains about double definition of MultiArray's extents object. Date Time lib and time_t

Has anybody ever implimented a to_time_t function/method for the ptime class to create a time_t from a ptime. I tried doing it similar to the way from_time_t does it but I'm not getting the right answer. It's nice that you can convert from a time_t for use with legacy code but sometimes you need to go back the other way. This also isn't exactly what you are looking for, but I took built your test.cpp on vc7.1 running on windows XP using boost 1.31 (also built with vc7.1 running on windows XP). Both the debug (using boost_thread-vc71-mt-gd-1_31.dll) and the release (using boost_thread-vc71-mt-1_31.dll) builds of test.cpp worked fine. My boost dlls were built with all default settings (except I used the alternate namespace hack for boost::signals since we also use Qt). [boost.build] Patch for python.jam

Hello, attached is a patch for pyhton.jam which allows to use python installation on Unix which have been configured with different prefix and exec-prefix. Currently this is not supported by boost.build. The patch simply adds the missing include directory to the compiler command line as recommended in http://www.python.org/doc/2.3.4/api/includes.html . Bjam- racking my brain

For the last several days (a few hours each day) I have been trying to get the \tools\build\v2\example\hello sample to build with bjam- (windows XP, vc7.1) I CAN build boost from the command line, but when I move into the \tools\build\v2\example\hello dir and try various combinations of bjam (with and without -sTools=vc7.1 etc..) I get the same error no matter what I do. I took the bjam sources and compiled a debug version in the Visual Studio IDE, and have spent the evening stepping through the code and reading the docs. This is one of these things I think that I just have to completely internalize how this thing works before I will crack this. long long support with GCC

Hi, As I'm sure you know, long long and unsigned long long are supported by GCC in C++. However, -std=c++98 (not quite sure why, to be honest) and -pedantic cause lots of warnings and errors to be generated in the Boost headers when long long is used. In my project, it is desirable to use these flags for other reasons, but the effect these flags have on the Boost headers is decidedly undesirable. So far, I've been wrapping the Boost headers in forwarding headers that mark the Boost headers as system headers so that they compile without warning or error. Is there any disadvantage to doing this? GCC supports long long even with the above options, but only if __extension__ is used. I notice that there a Boost-standard 64bit type, boost::int64_t. Is there some reason that this can't be typedef'ed using the GCC extension, and then this identifier used in all places where 'long long' is being used? i first compiled (succesfully) stlport 4.6.2. then i ran "bjam "-sTOOLS=vc7.1-stlport" install" and it failed compiling the regex library. then i manually went to the libs\regex\build folder and ran "nmake /f vc7.1-stlport clean install" and it compiled the first thing ok and the 2nd time around threw a LOT of linker errors (well, only ~49, but they're stl-style-long :D). I set correctly the STLPORT_VERSION and the STLPORT_PATH env vars, the tools were loaded ok, the INCLUDE env var had stlport's include dir first... Hello. I'm trying to incorporate Unicode regex searching in a little app I'm doing. I'm building using XCode 1.2 on MacOSX 10.3.4. The problem I'm having is that I can't seem to get boost's regex to incorporate unicode or wide-character support. In <boost/config/platform/macos.hpp> there is the line #define BOOST_NO_CWCHAR which seems to disable allowance for unicode by causing boost::wregex and boost::wcmatch symbols to not be typedef-ed. A test app. shows that these symbols are defined when I build using Codewarrior. So I'm wondering how to get unicode support for regex using XCode (gcc) on a MacOSX machine. Any suggestions? Don't seed() mersenne_twister RNG with 0

Hi, a seed(0) with a mersenne_twister (like mt11213b or mt19937) aborts on some assertion (tested on boost 1.31). boost/random/linear_congruential.hpp:61: boost::random::linear_congruential<IntType, a, c, m, val>::linear_congruential(IntType) [with IntType = uint32_t, IntType a = 69069, IntType c = 0, IntType m = 0, IntType val = 0]: Assertion `c || x0' failed. mersenne_twister::seed(x) calls linear_congruential<uint32_t, 69069, 0, 0, /* unknown */ 0>(x), which asserts(0 || x). So x must be non-zero. I didn't see it in the doc, but I think it would be a good thing to have it written down, or to have mersenne_twister::seed() modified to avoid the assertion. With filesystem, you can do filesystem::path P(....); filesystem::ofstream S; if (!filesystem::exists(P)) { S.open(P); } But isn't there a race condition here which could lead to a file created by another process being wiped out, or added to? Is there a way to get ofstream::open to fail if the file already exists? It succeeds on VC7.1 but in some situations I don't want it to succeed. Cheers Russell

I am used to putting in quick sleep() statements in my worker threads, usually a sleep(0) just to give up a timeslice, or maybe a sleep(1). The odd (for me) part is that even when I remove all boost function calls from the function the compile error still shows up and it points me to a line in the functional.hpp file. So 1. Does anyone know what could be causing this compile error? 2. What's a better way of writing this function? Thanks in advance, Nick

test failure rate and usage

I wanted to use the Boost smart_ptr classes on Solaris 8/Workshop 7 and RedHat E3/gcc 3.23. So, I downloaded the boost src (and jam and boost.build) and built the entire package. After seeing many test failures, I discovered on the regression test page that no compiler achieves 100% pass rate and some are about 30%. I have 2 questions. One, in general, how does one know when it is "safe" to use a boost library on a particular platform? For example, if a platform's failure rate is 15%, should boost be used? And, two, with just the boost source (without building any libraries), I was able to use the boost::shared_ptr in my Solaris application by merely including the right header. Apparently, I don't need to build boost to use shared_ptr which leads me to ask, in general, how do one know when a library is needed (or not needed)? Shouldn't the fact that boost is mainly templates mean there should be little or no implementation (i.e. code that needs to be compiled into a library)? For example, many template libraries are provided as header-only solutions. Thanks! I'm having some difficulties figuring out how to use boost::bind and boost::lambda Here's what I've trying to do: use transform to transform the values in one container to another, looking up the new value as a function of the old. What I'm trying to do is conceptually simple: call std::transform with a predicate that takes the original value, does a std::find_if on that value in another "container" using a bound std::greater< int > predicate, converts the returned iterator to an integral distance, and inserts that integral distance in the container that is the destination of the transform. Doing this using a hand-coded functor is easy enough, but I'm not able to figure out how to do it using boost::lambda. If I understand lambda, this should make each element of c equal to four times the corresponding element of o, and indeed this compiles as works as expected. std::transform( o.begin(), o.end(), std::back_inserter( c ), _1 = _1 * 4 ) ; This bit of code will look up a value, the index of the first element in partition with a value greater than v (or 3 if v is greater than all values in partition: int partition[] = { 10, 20, 30 } ; offset = std::find_if( partition, partition + 3, boost::bind( std::greater< int >(), _1, v ) ) - partition ; This code wraps the lookup and the subtraction that turns the returned pointer into an offset: template< template< typename > class Pred, typename It, typename T > int find_region_offset( It b, It e, T val ) { return std::find_if( b, e, std::bind2nd( Pred< T >(), val ) ) - b ; } and this code uses the wrapper, along with the transform: std::transform( o.begin(), o.end(), std::back_inserter( c ), boost::bind( find_region_offset< std::greater, int*, int>, partition, partition + 3, _1 ) ) ; So far, so good. What I don't know how to do is to dispense with the wrapper. As close as I can come is to use this class: struct identityPred { int operator()( int i ) { return i ; } } ; to do this: std::transform( o.begin(), o.end(), std::back_inserter( c ), boost::bind( std::less< int* >(), // to subtract the returned pointer from partition boost::bind( std::find_if< int*, identityPred >, partition, partition + 3, identityPred() ), partition) ) ; This compiles, but I don't want identityPred, I want boost::bind( std::greater< int >(), _1, _1X ) where _1 is the value in the partition array and _1X is the value read from container o. Ideally I'd like to do this using boost::lambda, which I think would look something like: std::transform( o.begin(), o.end(), std::back_inserter( c ), _1 = find_if(partition, partition + 3, _1 > var( _1 )) - partition ) ; where the first and last "_1"s are transform's (containers o and c's) values, and middle one is partition's values. Again, what I'm trying to do is conceptually simple: call transform with a predicate that takes the original value, does a find_if on that value in another "container" using a bound std::greater< int > predicate, converts the returned iterator to an integral distance, and inserts that integral distance in the container that is the destination of the transform. Could anyone explain to me why there is not a default constructor for boost::gregorian::date_time and boost::posix_time::ptime. I implemented a simple constructor where both classes are created as 'not_a_date_time'. The only problem I have had is compiling my code on other peoples machines that do not have my modification to the date_time library. jonathan

We have problems here passing the boost::filesystem::native function as a checker on WIN32 platform, eg. like this ... boost::filesystem::path path ("d:\hello\hello", boost::filesystem::native); ... When we take the address of the function "boost::filesystem::native(...)" in dll A and the pass it to boost filesystem dll, the various comparisons with "native" inside path_posix_windows.cpp:m_path_append ( const std::string & src, name_check checker ) fail, and and the code throws an invalid name exception. (e.g. line 242: if ( (checker == no_check || checker == native) && src.size() >= 2 ) fails as checker != native) The microsoft compiler takes the address into an internal function table, instead of the adress of the "real" boost::filesystem::native () function, so the comparison can never be true. Anybody got an idea what to do? Hi, compiling "a{7}" or any repeat with curly brackets gives me an "invalid regex synyax"! Any clues or workarounds? Then boost::regex expression("GO:(\d+)",regex::bk_refs); string str=boost::regex_replace("GO:000015|GO:00016",expression,"$1") str equals "00001500015|00016" instead of the expected "000015|00016"!? But when I linke to the libfilesystem.lib, the error said that that the libsystem.lib doesn't consist of interfaces that have parameters of _STL::string type. I guess I must have not correctly configure the bjam to build filesystem. But how can I make it to recognize _STL namespace?

Dear list, I have tried many ways but could not figure out how to boost::serialize the following object: Basically, to maintain a big chunk of small objects, I use a memory pool to allocate a big trunk of memory and return the pointers to small objects. struct small { int size; int * ptr; init(int s, int* p){ size = s; ptr = p; } } struct All { vector<int> data; vector<small> objs; All(int num_obj, int size_obj) { data.resize( num_obj * size_obj); for(int i=0; i<num_obj; i++) objs[i].init( size_obj, &data[i* size_obj]); } } It is easy to serialize All::data but how to deal with small::ptr is beyond me. I tried the following ways: 1. in small ar & size & ptr. --- template expansion error. 2. in small ar & size & reinterpret_cast<unsigned int>ptr --- core dump. What I am trying to do in 2 is that in load(....), I want to ar & objs; /// get the number of old pointer back. find the smallest number of objs[i].ptr relocate objs[i].ptr to &data[0] + objs[i].ptr - smallest point. However, I can not do this in the load(...) function. The template expansion does not allow changes to objs (this does not make sense to me though). 3. ignore ptr --- can compile, core dump. Can someone give me a bit of insights how I can make things work? Thanks.

I have found my way around the problem, though I don't understand why it works. Recap of the problem (for those joining late): attempting to build boost with bjam under msys/mingw resulted in very strange behavior. Within the msys shell, invoking the following line: bjam -sTOOL=mingw install ...resulted in bjam attempting to use the VC7 toolset. I checked the path within msys to make sure I was running the version of bjam.exe that I thought I was. Looking through the directories showed there was indeed only one copy. On a hunch, I moved it from it's present location at 'c:/msys/1.0/bin' to 'c:/msys/1.0/mingw/bin' and tried again. And suddenly bjam began using gcc. 8^0 Apparently where you run it from makes a big difference. I'm sure that an msys guru could take one look at the symptoms and say, "Of course! It's obvious to the meanest intellect!". Not being an msys guru I will just shrug my shoulders and move forward :) All is well now and Boost is building even as I type this message. As the name implies, it's a bunch of separate projects, so I think the intent is that you pull one or more of them out and stick them in a regular boost tree. Howdy fellow boosters, Several years ago I started using array_traits. I gathered from some later discussion that this library was never meant to be part of boost. However, I really like the library and find it more useful than the array<> implementation. Point in fact, array_traits and array<> overlap but probably weren't meant to solve the same problems [1]. Is array_traits around any more? I seem to recall something more general purpose. Maybe container_traits? Is this still being actively worked on? I am planning on (finally) upgrading our use of boost to a more recent version. I'm trying to work out what to do about our use of array_traits. Maybe I'll just keep using it. ...Duane [1] The primary difference between array_traits and array<> is the "construction" of the array. array_traits in fact has no construction. It can work with any arbitrary defined C-array of objects. array<> on the other hand requires construction. For my use,the major advantage that array_traits has over array<> is that I can refer to any ordinary C- array; in particular arrays that may not be under my control. Where as array<> requires that I change the type of the object.

Installation of boost-sandbox

Hi, I've heared of the ublas-binding to lapack, which sounds very good. Thus I tried to install it, but I didn't succeed. I got boost-sandbox using cvs. Then I went to the boost-sandbox directory and did a bjam. But I got this: libs\numeric\blasbindings\tst\Jamfile: No such file or directory libs\numeric\blasbindings\tst\Jamfile: No such file or directory don't know how to make <@boost-sandbox!libs!numeric!bindings!amos>amos.cpp ...found 227 targets... ...updating 34 targets... ...can't find 1 target... ...can't make 5 targets... MkDir1 bin I am using Visual Studio.NET Prof. 2003. I'd love to try the ublas-bindings, so can anybody help me installing it? Anything else I have to take care of once the bindings work (e.g. link to clapack or so)? -- Franz

BGL transitive reduction algorithm?

Hi Boosters. I recently started working on a class which provides the functionality of any other binary buffer and a bit more (which is why I do it ;)). Because the content of this buffer is not homogeneous regarding the type of the elements stored in it I have this more general question: Which type should I choose to be the basis for those buffers? Oops, sorry, Ben and Heinquoi- that was a typo :P What I *meant* to say was: Starting bjam with: bjam -sTOOLS=mingw install causes bjam to invoke VC7 instead of gcc. Same thing if quotes are used (as described in the documentation: bjam "-sTOOLS=mingw" install I ran it again, making sure that I actually used -sTOOLS and not -sTOOL, and I still see the described behavior. Again, this is using boost 1.31.0, msys and mingw on Windows 2000, and a prebuilt version of bjam recently downloaded from sourceforge. I might be missing the point here, but I have built Boost under mingw using TOOLS=gcc and I seem to get satisfactory results. I have not actually built the regression tests, so there might be some lurking issues that I am not aware of.

Can anyone comment on the reasoning behind using a lightweight mutex-protected counter instead of an atomic counter? building boost under mingw: bjam invokes VC7??

Hello, all- I recently attempted to build and install boost 1.31.0 using msys (i.e., mingw). I enter the boost directory and start bjam with: bjam -sTOOL=mingw install ...and then I see bjam invoking vc7 instead of gcc. For example: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003\VC7\bin\cl" ... followed by many, many errors, as VC7 is not installed on my system. I don't understand why bjam thinks it should be using VC7. Can anyone offer any advice or a workaround? I'm using the latest version of both msys and mingw under Windows 2000, and mingw is installed *under* msys, if that makes a difference. Limitation of boost::protect of Boost.Bind

Hi, I would like to bind a function which takes a boost::function<void> as parameter, let's say void caller(boost::function<void (void)>& f) { f(); } void foo() {} boost::function<void (void)> foo_fun = &foo; boost::bind(caller, foo_fun)(); But what if the function has a parameter, for example void bar(int i) {} How can I create the folling a function object? boost::function<void (int)> The function object should take an int, bind it to bar and then call caller with the resulting nullary function. boost::function<void (int)> bar_fun = &bar; // doesn't work because caller and bar are being composed. boost:bind(caller, boost::bind(bar_fun, _1)) // doesn't work because caller doesn't accept a unary function. boost:bind(caller, boost::protect(boost::bind(bar_fun, _1))) Does anyone have a clean solution for that? boost::protect doesn't provide the option to evaluate the arguments (_1) but _not_ perform a composition. Hi, How can I inform an error from a semantic action? Consider the following code: rule = IDENTIFIER[ callback_a( m_varBinder, &VarBinder::bind ) ]; callback_a is an actor allowing member calls in semantic actions. VarBinder::bind receives an identifier and try to locate it in an external symbol table. If bind fails, I like to inform a parser error back to Spirit. How can I do that? Help with tuples - repeated members

I've been playing with Boost's tuples library, but I'm having some trouble working through a wrinkle: I have some routines that use tuple<int>, tuple<int, int>, etc., up to tuple<int, int, int, int, int>. I'd like to be able to declare these objects using an alternative notation, along the lines of: tuple_clone<int, 1>, tuple_clone<int, 2>, tuple_clone<int, 3>, etc. The objective would be to allow me to write a function template that looked something like this: template <int N> tuple_clone<int, N> fn(tuple_clone<int, N-1> t) { tuple_clone<int, N> ret; ret.get_head() = getValue(); ret.get_tail() = t; return ret; } Each time I try to write tuple_clone, though, I end up stumped. Is it possible to write something like this, while leveraging the tuples library? Or is there a different approach I ought to look into? FW: "memory access violation" in boost::serialization

Hi, I encountered the following little problem: I would like to use the following datastructures with boost::serialize: struct Match {}; typedef std::string Key; typedef tst< Match, Key > TernarySearchTree; //this one has a shared_ptr typedef std::vector< TernarySearchTree > Trees; typedef std::map< std::string, Trees > Symbols; I have defined some serialize overloads so saving goes fine, but when loading I get a "memory acces violation" inside the following code: { boost::archive::text_iarchive ia(ifs); ia >> symbols_; } More specific, inside <boost/serializiton/shared_count.hpp> void add_ref_copy() { #if defined(BOOST_HAS_THREADS) mutex_type::scoped_lock lock(mtx_); #endif ++use_count_; } Which constructs a scoped_lock, and there, the "explicit scoped_lock(lightweight_mutex & m): m_(m)" seems to go wrong. What could be the reason? The more since all worked fine (saving and loading) when I used a simple vector of tst's. Is it not possible to use a map of string/vector (the error seems to suggest the library failing when copying vector to map - eg ++use_count of the shared_ptr inside the TST). Hi, I've also tried to compile RegEx with Forte 8. Did you try that? I think I managed to get things to compile, but unfortunately, when I try to compile it in 64-bit mode, we still get problems. Is there any chance you've tried compiling it in 64-bits? Thanks. I have been looking at Andre Alexandrescu's book Modern C++ Design. He has the Loki library in there. That has all of the pieces that are needed. Does anyone know of any issue with mixing Boost, ATL and Loki? A side question is has anyone looked at merging the Loki library into the Boost library. It seems like a really great fit as the Loki library deals with a different set of problems. I'm trying to use boost.threads in my project, as they look like the cleanest cross-platform threading interface I've seen in a while, and I'm running into a wee problem convincing the libraries to build. My setup: Windows 2000 SP 4 Microsoft Visual C++ 7.1 (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003\VC7\) MS SDK (U:\Program Files\Microsoft SDK) Boost 1.31.0 (C:\boost_1_31_0, installing to C:\boost) Cygwin is installed, but not present in PATH; I am not using cygwin to build this project, only to run PostgreSQL. Python is not installed, as I have no need for it. Visual C++ 6.0 is also installed (for legacy projects), but not present in PATH. bjam is present in PATH, as downloaded from Sourceforge.
