Good evening, I've further investigated innto the possible solution I found out to get system boot time under win machines (even if my last post did not have so much success :-D ) After some tries, it seems that the boot time is not always the same, but they are different ALWAYS by 1 ms,Usually in my experience a machine does not boot every 1 ms (:-D) so a possible workaround would be: 1) compute boot time 2) try to open the shared folders with the given boot time 3) if fails, try to add or subtract one ms and repet step 2, if all of them failes then you are sure that id does not exist may it work or is it too cumbersome ? regards L. asio: async_write handler not called in Linux but called in Windows

Hi, I have an application that need to work on both Windows and Linux. We are using asio for network communication (boost 1.57). In this, once the connection is established with the server, the connection handler in client executes the following async calls... boost::asio::async_read_until(Socket, stream, string("\r\n"), boost::bind(&MyConnection::HandleRead, shared_from_this(), boost::asio::placeholders::error)); ... ... ... boost::asio::async_write(Socket,boost::asio::buffer(buff,len), boost::bind(&MyConnection::HandleWrite,shared_from_this(), boost::asio::placeholders::error,boost::asio::placeholders::bytes_transferred)); On Windows, the "HandleWrite" function is called as soon as the data is written. But on Linux this function never gets called!. In Linux and Windows HandleRead is getting called as expected. In bot the the case, the server receives the data properly. Is there any reason for this? Problem with boost.log in a multithread application

Hello, I am using Boost.Log to produce 2 logs for a multi-thread application. There are 2 singleton channel_mt loggers corresponding to 2 files. Several threads continuously write different messages to the two loggers. Log file rotation is enabled on both loggers and in the event of rotation, the logs are collected into a different folder. All of this works as expected for a while, except randomly (but surely at some point) - I start seeing a stream of messages like - [2015-Jul-17 01:11:26.532653] (info): *** Exception: boost::filesystem::last_write_time: No such file or directory: "/var/infinity/rtb/auction_log" [2015-Jul-17 01:11:26.532896] (info): Boost Exception - libs/log/src/text_file_backend.cpp(1160): Throw in function void boost::log::v2_mt_posix::sinks::text_file_backend::consume(const boost::log::v2_mt_posix::record_view&, const string_type&) This goes on for a while and then my application hangs. Is this a known bug in lexical_cast<double> ?

We're using boost 1.51. Management is reluctant to upgrade because the software is for manned space flight and our current boost version has been stable. Wanted to see if there was a known bug with boost::lexical_cast<double>. We're seeing failures on what appear to be valid float strings. When we catch the exception, and simply do a second cast on the same string, the cast succeeds. The Code fragment: try { dVal = boost::lexical_cast<double>(theValue); } catch(boost::bad_lexical_cast &eX) { ... more code ... firstAttemptFailed = true; } // If the first cast succeeded, don't bother to attempt it again. if(firstAttemptFailed == true) { // Let the API throw the actual exception if the second attempt also fails. dVal = boost::lexical_cast<double>(theValue); } The string sequence this fails on is: ... ... "7104", "0.416666699999999999983", "0.22222224", "4.08233160000000000001", "1.81436960000000000002", ... ... It fails on the last string, "1.81.....", in the actual program, but when compiled into a simple test program, it succeeds. If there is a known bug, we may be able to get a Boost upgrade installed. Disturbed by that comment I just wanted to add for the benefit of anyone just starting out with multi-threading that in my experience containers are entirely safe for multi-threading PROVIDED that you're only reading from them (i.e. they are passed by const &). This is by far the most efficient way to pass common information into parallel threads (all threads read the same data). For containers required to return a result, the approach that works for me is to create a vector of containers and dedicate one to each thread. The result containers must be guaranteed to remain in scope until all threads have completed so I usually make them global. The only challenge is how to efficiently coalesce the partial results. Get this wrong (or use too many threads) and the performance gain from multi-threading quickly evaporates. Colin Humphries

Hello, I am developing a C++ application on a Linux (CentOS 6.6) platform with gcc 4.8.2. I need to build the Boost libraries I'm using (Regex and others) such that the code is compiled with the "-fPIC" (position-independent code) option. I looked around on the Boost web site and found information about a configure script and something called Boost.Config. I quickly got overwhelmed. What do I need to do to have the Boost build system use this flag to build its libraries? Is it something fairly simple, or do I need to invoke a complicated set of steps? Here is the Boost Test assertion: BOOST_CHECK_EXCEPTION(dummyOpr->setOperand(emptyValue), DiGSE::fail, fail_msg); Here is the test execution log message: info: check 'incorrect exception DiGSE::fail is caught' has passed I have only one exception: *DiGSE::fail* (derived from *std::exception*). It is the /only /exception that appears in the *BOOST_CHECK_EXCEPTION()* assertions. So, what does "incorrect exception *DiGSE::fail*" mean? If *DiGSE::fail* was caught, then that part is correct. If the message means that some /other/ exception was caught, then this is a Really Poor way of phrasing that information. Or, did the predicate return *false* (which, in my case, means the exception message is wrong)? But if the wrong exception was caught /or/ the predicate returned *false*, then why was the assertion declared "has passed"? Merrill Cornish

Hi all, First of all, the final result. Metaparse is formally unconditionally accepted into Boost. We had 11 reviews, all "Yes" votes. 2 "No" reviews based on formality were later reversed to a "Yes". The review was lively, with a general agreement that the library is very useful, the design of high quality and the documentation great. Here are some noticeable quotes which helped me take my decision: - "thank you Abel for submitting such an amazing library. The quality of the documentation and code is wonderful and it has been a pleasure to review Metaparse." (Michael Caisse) - (Design) "Of high quality. Based on the MPL paradigm, but I don't view this as a problem." (Peter Dimov) - "Part of the role of boost is to push compilers to the limit (and sometimes beyond). This library certainly has the capabilities to do so." (Roland Bock) Worth noticing is the review of Gordon Woodhull. I myself wrote a new front-end for MSM using Metaparse, and other use cases were very welcome and Gordon managed to produce one for his compile-time graph library by the end of the review, which I found impressive (for both the reviewer and the library). Thank you for investing time in this review. Another important factor for me for acceptance is how well the author is going to maintain his library. We have too many abandoned libraries. Abel went out of his way to oblige remarks and demands made by reviewers. Long before the reviews he also had obliged my many critics and demands. He also showed himself open for experiments. All this while keeping a very calm and professional tone. This is for me a very good sign of a library which will be well-maintained. Slow decoding in thread

I am writing a movie player using boost. I use a condition_variable to control a mutex in one thread that waits for packets of video to be ready for decoding, while another thread feeds those packets. My problem is that the decode thread may end up doing a lot of work when playing backwards and it is not ready to wait on the condition variable when the message comes from the other thread and so it hangs (or so I think). This is my wait loop. Is there anything, even if only "experimental" or "beta", that you have that would allow me to handle the EWOENERDEAD result? I'd rather use your code before putting my hands on your library, since it would be easier to let my manager (and his manager) deal with a "boost beta" rather than my personal modification to boost. If there is none, I would really need to modify your files for my project to work, and I would appreciate if you could confirm a couple of things for me. In http://stackoverflow.com/a/1179766/4598277 it is mentioned to modify two files: 1. posix/thread_helpers.hpp to set the attribute (first time ever I was happy to get an exception :D) 2. posix/mutex.hpp to handle the EOWNERDEAD return value Can you please confirm if this would be enough? It would seem so to me, but I have only studied parts of your code. Boost python and python sets

Hi, I'm struggling to find a way to support python sets with boost. The Python API is well defined, so am unable to switch to Python list type. The API needs to support Python sets for both input and output values. {Serialization] Deserialization of const references

As near as I can tell from the documentation http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_57_0/libs/serialization/doc/serialization.h… , the following is the way to handle const reference members, which are initialized in the constructor. Serialization seems to be working, from an inspection of the resulting XML file, but after deserialization, the values in the object given by the const reference are wrong and are all zero. Here is my question: Is load_construct_data() below correct? Hello, I am trying to understand the boost::dijkstra_shortest_paths() function. I don't understand the second and third arguments. The documentation says they're supposed to be properties map : OUT: predecessor_map(PredecessorMap p_map) The predecessor map records the edges in the shortest path tree, the tree computed by the traversal of the graph. Upon completion of the algorithm, the edges (p[u],u) for all u in V are in the tree. The shortest path from vertex s to each vertex v in the graph consists of the vertices v, p[v], p[p[v]], and so on until s is reached, in reverse order. The tree is not guaranteed to be a minimum spanning tree. If p[u] = u then u is either the source vertex or a vertex that is not reachable from the source. The PredecessorMap type must be a Read/Write Property Map whose key and value types are the same as the vertex descriptor type of the graph. but that doesn't work. I have to use an iterator on the properties map, by using : boost::make_iterator_property_map(pred_map.begin(),vertex_index) Does the documentation need reviewers ?

Hi, Firstly, thanks Anthony for submitting this useful library to boost, and to Vladimir for managing the review. - Should the library be accepted? Yes. I had been meaning to test the library for some time, and with the review reminder finally made some time to do so. My vote of yes is based on my (limited) positive experience with the library, as well as having followed past related discussions on the mailing list, in which many questions are addressed. (http://lists.boost.org/Archives/boost/2014/09/216650.php) I think boost.DLL should be accepted unless someone has a serious/valid reservation as to why this library should not to be accepted. - How useful is it? Very useful. It enabled me to add a test-plugin mechanism to an existing application (Windows and Linux) in a matter of minutes. - What's your evaluation of - Design Looks good to me. Simple to use, with good integration into rest of boost (e.g. file_system). [asio] async udp socket latency

I'm having difficulty with latency when running an async asio udp socket. I don't have the same problems with an identical application that uses synchronous udp. I'm communicating with a physical device which permits a maximum 5ms latency for each UDP packet, and I'm currently getting a latency of 8ms with a std dev of 0.065ms which is surprisingly precise. I'm on Mac OS X 10.10.4 with Xcode 6.3.2 (6D2105). Boost 1.58 and Intel Compiler 15

Hi, Has any one worked with the latest Intel compiler on Linux? I'm hit with some Spirit/Fusion issues that don't arise with gcc 4.8.2 or clang 3.6.0. Quite difficult to diminish the number of lines in my example case, as the errors are different between in project and out of project... I'm working with boost log examples (v1.55) of trivial logging and having issues linking against these libraries. Hello All, I have been on this for a long time and have done a lot of research / reading on this topic, HDF5. To use it for development of in-house software for design calculation of various alignments. A lot many time the basic alignment information is picked from a map / satellite imageries. Kilometre, ground level, geographic feature on the proposed route, etc. , in a csv file. Any where between 7-9 files are generated for each alignment. 1. How to read / write data into the HDF5 file ? What after creating root ? 2. In a regular situation, I have 2 input file with 3 column csv data, and 2 output files. How to do that within the same root ? Will be working in Python and c / c++. This is just the basic. If I can do this much, I can do the rest, hopefully :) Thanks to All Nitin PS :- Will post in scipy-user list too.

fusion error when compiling graphviz code using VC2010

We have been using Boost's graphviz support for several years and have upgraded through a few versions of Boost with no issues in some long stable code. However, when we moved to 1.58 our Windows build broke. We are still using VC2010, with plans to move to 2015 in the not-too-distant future. We have not yet tried 1.58 in VC2015. The error message is very large but emanates from here: boost/include/boost-1_58\boost/fusion/container/list/cons.hpp(86): error C2664: 'boost::xpressive::detail::alternates_list<Head,Tail>::alternates_list(cons t Head &,const boost::fusion::nil &)' : cannot convert parameter 1 from 'const boost::fusion::cons_iterator<Cons>' to 'const boost::xpressive::detail::static_xpression<Matcher,Next> &’ I am not familiar with the fusion or xpressive libraries, but after picking through the error messages and review of diff of changes since 1.54 (the version we are moving from), this looks like a template specialization problem. The problem is rooted in a regex that uses xpressive in the escape_dot_string function in the graphviz library. Hi Christophe, For an fsm with orthogonal regions if any region rejects an event (guard returns false), the library blocks all anonymous transitions. for example, an fsm has two regions. Region 0 returns HANDLED_TRUE, region 1 returns HANDLED_GUARD_REJECT for the same event. region_processing_helper combines it into a single "HANDLED_TRUE | HANDLED_GUARD_REJECT" value. However function process_event_internal<> (state_machine.hpp) creates handle_eventless_transitions_helper that takes (handled == HANDLED_TRUE) as a condition for allowing transitions. should it be (handled & HANDLED_TRUE)? as a result, fsm is stuck in event that has an anonymous transition to another event. PS. I've seen the same condition (handled == HANDLED_TRUE) in do_post_handle_deferred function, but I do not use deferred events so I did not check that part.

[PBGL] Creating graph on multiple processes

Hi! I am trying to create undirected weighted graph on two mpi-processes. I use add_edge function to add edges (master (pid=0) process is responsible for this). For small graphs everything is ok. But when I create larger graphs (for instance, number of vertices is 2^20 and number of edges is 2^28) the program hangs supposedly in add_edge. For mpirun -np 1 there is no such problem. [Boost][DateTime] Non conforming iterators?

Hi, The documentation for Boost.Date_Time iterators says that "Date iterators are a model of Bidirectional Iterator". However, I am not able to use them in some STL algorithms because of the lack of a required nested type. The following simplified example does not compile: #include <boost/date_time/gregorian/gregorian.hpp> #include <algorithm> void main() { using namespace boost::gregorian; date v[5]; std::copy_n( month_iterator( date(2015,06,25) ), 5, v ); } On VS2013 fails with error 'difference_type' : is not a member of 'boost::date_time::date_itr<boost::date_time::month_functor<boost::gregorian::greg_durations_config::date_type>,boost::gregorian::date>' Compilation on gcc and clang fails with a similar error complaining about the lack of 'difference_type'. Isn't a nested difference_type a requirement of BidirectionalIterator? Am I using these date iterators incorrectly? Regards

[multi_index] are indices in a random access index stable on addition, can we have an "index_of" method?

I have a stream of pairs of elements of type T, and want to insert individual T's uniquely into a container and convert the pairs to a pair of indices into this container. [Test] How to Access Private Data from a Test

In the Bad-Old-Days when I had to roll my own, I would define my tests as methods of a special test class. If those tests needed to access private data in the classes under test, I would declare special test class as a friend of the class under test--one extra statement and everything worked. How do I do that using Boost test (1.58.0) with the AUTO_TEST family of macros? In the labyrinth of macro expansions, I found a struct name with the argument name from BOOST_AUTO_TEST_CASE(), but a friend of that name doesn't work. The ideal case would be to declare the string name in BOOST_AUTO_TEST_SUITE() as a friend so one friend declaration does it all. Alternately, having to declare a separate friend for each BOOST_AUTO_TEST_CASE() would be tedious (especially for large classes), but it would work. At the moment, I'm using the ole private=public trick: #define private public #include "header_under_test" #undef private However, I've already discovered one system header, <sstream>, that won't work with that kludge. There may be others. Is there another workaround for Boost Tests? I can't be the only one who has to access private data in tests. Merrill Cornish

Interprocess - 3rd process cannot read/write the shared memory

Hi, I am working on Windows 7, boost 1.57. I am using interprocess shared memory. I have two processes A and B. A creates the shared memory with read/write permission, then B opens it and writes to it. In this case it works fine. As the next step process A terminates and starts again and opens the same shared memory. But in this case, it seems that A and B are reading/writing to different memory! Is this a defined behavior? If I make B to reopen the memory, it works! Thanks, Lloyd

Hello, i am using Boost V1.5.8 under vs 2010 with a german windows 7 64 bit. When I tried to calculate a time period I always ran into the same problem. The period is calculated one day too short. I wrote a little program to illustrate my problem. It's important that you change the value of the variable test to the current date. Is this a bug or do I use the library in an incorrect way? Printing local edge list in PBGL

Hi, I have a simple program using PBGL (boost 1.58) which creates an undirected graph and prints local edge list for the specified process. However, only for zero process the list (edges(g)) contains edge descriptors, while for non-zero processes the list is empty, which is strange, is it not? If someone could help me diagnose this segmentation fault, I'd appreciate it greatly. It has stumped me for a couple of days. I guess that it isn't really necessary to export non-polymorphic derived classes. In GDB, executing t.name() yielded the correct name "long_name_", but when executing t.value(), the debugger complained about an invalid address: RuntimeError: Cannot access memory at address 0xffffffffffffffe8 That error message comes from GDB's Python utility for pretty-printing strings (the variable being deserialized is a std::string), which is invoked when I print t.value(), but regardless something is wrong in t.value(). Does any of this suggest what I might be doing wrong? Thanks for any help.

I am attempting to serialize a template class without a default constructor, so I am overriding boost::serialization::save_construct_data(). I'm not sure of the correct syntax to declare that function. [Variant]Maximum Limit of types in variant and fusion vector

Hi I want to use boost::variant with types more than 50. Until now I was using boost::variant with types up to 50 like this : #define BOOST_MPL_CFG_NO_PREPROCESSED_HEADERS #define BOOST_MPL_LIMIT_LIST_SIZE 50 #define BOOST_MPL_LIMIT_VECTOR_SIZE 50 #include <boost/variant.hpp> However , now if I change BOOST_MPL_LIMIT_LIST_SIZE and BOOST_MPL_LIMIT_VECTOR_SIZE to 100 it gives me compiler errors: Cannot open include file: 'boost/mpl/list/list100.hpp': No such file or directory So is 50 the maximum limit of types that can be put in the variant ? Also it seems that the maximum limit of types for vector fusion is 50, and can't increase that, and I want to have fusion vector for more than 50. Is this possible. bimap : Ordering

When iterating though a bimap with a left iterator, I notice that for the pairs having the same left member e.g. (L, R1) (L,R2), (L,R3), ... the pairs are not in increasing R, but in the insertion order of the pairs. Is this an artefact of the design, or an intention? The actual bimap I am using is typedef boost::bimap< boost::bimaps::multiset_of< unsigned int >, boost::bimaps::multiset_of< unsigned int >, boost::bimaps::set_of_relation<>, boost::bimaps::with_info< int > > BMAP; I set it up so that info stores the insertion order index. [Test] Small Enhancement Suggestion

I couldn't find the official way of suggesting an enhancement, but here goes: When a Boost Test currently runs in console mode, it logs the message lines "Running X test cases..." at the start and "*** Y failure detected in test suite 'My Test Suite' " at the end. That's all good. However, if <ahem> the test goes bad wrong and never reaches the end, there is no record in the log of which test did it. Suggestion: Change the initial log message to include the test suite name. For example, "Running X test cases from 'My Test Suite'" Merrill Cornish

Hello, I try to compile/link a boost log example: http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_58_0/libs/log/example/doc/tutorial_file.cpp Using: g++ boostlog.cpp -lboost_log -lpthread with g++ 5.1.0 and boost 1.58 on arch linux. The trivial examples worked fine when I put #define BOOST_LOG_DYN_LINK 1 at the very first line. But with this example I get % g++ boostlog.cpp -lboost_log -lpthread /usr/bin/ld: /tmp/ccT2pz5x.o: undefined reference to symbol '_ZN5boost6detail12set_tss_dataEPKvNS_10shared_ptrINS0_20tss_cleanup_functionEEEPvb' /usr/lib/libboost_thread.so.1.58.0: error adding symbols: DSO missing from command line Probably a missing library but which one? C# application crashes due exception in exception_ptr.hpp

Hi there, I´m new to boost so this might be a silly question. We have a simulation that is written in C++ and compiled as a static lib. It uses a few boost (v1.56) functions like thread. My job is to create a WPF GUI, that uses this lib. For that, I created a C++ CLR DLL which interacts as a wrapper between .NET GUI and the unmanaged libs. Everything works fine but closing my program results in a crash. This crash is described here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/8144630/mixed-mode-c- cli-dll-throws-exception-on-exit And someone replied, that the reason for this lies in the exception_ptr.hpp beacause a "static exception_ptr ep" is being used instead of "exception_ptr ep". When I delete the static attribute, my program ends normally without the crash. My understanding of C++ is not that big, so I can´t say why it crashes here. But the boost programmers have a reason to do so. I also followed These advices (http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lib.boost.user/44515) but with no further luck. Best regards, Markus

Boost Random Numbers: Normal Distribution

There are the Box-Muller-Method, Marsaglia's Polar Method and Ziggurat's algorithm out there, but i could not determine which of those is actually used by boost::normal_distribution<double>? Modify an asio echo server so that it does not send message back to client

Hi, I am writing a simple server that is listening to binary data bucket being sent by a client. I am basing the prototype server on the following: http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_55_0/doc/html/boost_asio/example/cpp03/echo… I am wonder what is the correct way to modify the example so that it does not echo the result back to the client. The amount of binary data sent are substantial, more importantly, the client has no way to handle the incoming data on the socket. I made a mistake. I used mpicxx in the below commands. eval_if fails - problem for C++ guru

I've been having a very difficult time with a problem illustrated by the following program: It looks like the eval_if in line 51 isn't working correctly. That is, the metafuction get_promotion_policy is being invoked when both types are not safe types. I've been working on this for two days and can't see what's going on. Hi, guys. I am trying to to compile the tutorial code from Boost.Log with the trivial logger. But it fails with the error: "‘boost::log::v2s_mt_posix::trivial::boost’ has not been declared" OS: OracleLinux 6.6 G++: 4.4.7 Boost: 1.57 I have googled a lot about it, but it seems that all answers are related to some linking error, but this one is different. It seems that it does not even find the declaration in the first place. Anyone has similar experience?

Robert, thanks for the reply -- I won't attempt to serialize the static const members. Also, it looks like if the members is static but not const and defined outside of the class, the linker finds it just fine, when it is referenced in save_construct_data(). Hello List, I have a thread with a class and its method that raises a "question" signal and needs to wait with a timeout for an "answer" signal. There are several worker threads, some of which may be connected to the question signal. The answer signal will be raised by a worker thread only if it knows the answer; it is possible that no worker thread knows the answer so no answer signal will be raised (hence need for timeout). The question thread cannot know which worker thread to ask. What is a good way to achieve this using boost 1.58 and/or C++11? I am using g++ 4.9 on 64bit ubuntu 14.04. Thanks, Vic

I'm get a SIGEGV segmentation fault /only/ when trying to register a test manually. Everything works just fine if I use auto registration. All compiles and links in both cases are without error. I know almost nothing about using gdb, but I was able to see the segment violation message shown below. I'm having some issues getting the following example to compile in g++4.9, or clang 3.6, using boost 1.58.0 I'm not quite experienced enough with boost or c++ to be certain, but it appears that the vector serialization is done in such a way that it doesn't pick up the load_construct_data for time_period from boost/date_time/posix_time/time_serialize.hpp Is the fix simply to do my own vector serialization a situation like this? [Boost Test] BOOST_TEST_ALTERNATIVE_INIT_API

I am using Boost 1.58.0. After I downloaded it, I did a full default build with build_type=complete. So, Boost Test was built without any special command line arguments. The minimal tests I have so far work. I have defined BOOST_TEST_ALTERNATIVE_INIT_API <http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_57_0/libs/test/doc/html/utf/compilation.htm…> in my main program, so my initialization function (currently empty) is bool init_function(). However, I noticed something in the documentation that said if you do define BOOST_TEST_ALTERNATIVE_INIT_API <http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_57_0/libs/test/doc/html/utf/compilation.htm…> in your main(), you also have to define it when you build the library. But my test code seems to be working without the special build. Does 1.58.0, perhaps, not need the command line definition. Or, am I kidding myself that everything is all right, and the Roadrunner is going to drop an anvil on my head at a later date? Merrill Cornish

I'm running Boost 1_58_0 on Windows 7.1, 64-bit, with MinGW 4.9.2, 64-bit. I've just started writing tests for my project and have one test suite working. I'm using BOOST_AUTO_TEST_CASE and BOOST_AUTO_TEST_SUITE. There will be many more test suites to come. They are not LOGICALLY dependent on each other, but if some fail, the other tests will be a waste of time. Therefore, I would like to be able to specify the order in which they are run. Is there a way to do that, or does choosing BOOST_AUTO_TEST_SUITE take it all out of my hands? Merrill Cornish

Hence, since I am not proficient in the way of allocators, I will ask directly: is it possible to use google sparsehash with Boost.Interprocess? According to the info I found sparsehash can be faster than boost::unordered_map, and I could really use the additional speed. How to fetch boost libraries and their dependencies from github via CMake

Dear all, I have a CMake project that requires some header-only boost libraries: - container, dynamic_bitset, math, units I would like CMake to always fetch automatically the latest version of these libraries and their dependencies from github as an external project. No "new" operator etc. Since there is no "new" and all is static, I cannot use the runtime, to specialize my transitions. So instead, I have to use templates! Metaparse was written by Abel Sinkovics. Metaparse is a parser generator library for template metaprograms. The purpose of this library is to support the creation of parsers that parse at compile time. This library is intended to be used for embedded domain specific language creation for C++ and can help libraries provide a better interface. It is similar to Boost.Spirit, however while parsers built with Spirit parse at run-time, parsers built with Metaparse parse at compile-time. It makes it possible for library authors to provide an interface that follows the common notation of the problem domain of the library. (eg. SQL queries, grammars, etc written in their common notation instead of similar-looking C++ expressions). For example there is a (yet incomplete) interface for Boost.Spirit that makes it possible to write MPLLIBS_REGEX("^[abcd][3-8]\\.foo$") instead of bos >> set[as_xpr('a')|'b'|'c'|'d'] >> range('3','8') >> '.' >> 'f' >> 'o' >> 'o' >> eos and make the parser built with Metaparse generate the latter expression from the former one. This is demonstrated by the type-safe printf implementation ( http://abel.web.elte.hu/mpllibs/safe_printf/index.html) It type-checks the arguments of a printf call based on the format string and has zero runtime overhead compared to unchecked printf. Parsers can be constructed in a declarative manner and (even though this is template metaprogramming based) remain readable. The implementation reflects the grammar it parses (with additional elements for semantic actions). Even though the library requires the parser author to write template metaprograms, the development of parsers is well supported by tools like Metashell and MDB. An important aspect of parsers (built with this library or another one) is error reporting for invalid input. The library offers tools for the parser authors to be able to provide useful error messages in case of parsing errors. [BGL] Dijkstra shortest paths with custom compare function and zero weight edges

I'm using dijkstra_shortest_paths with a custom compare function like (Weight a, Weight b) { return a<=b; } As I've also got some zero weight edges within the graph this leads to problems with the test for negative weights in dijkstra_bfs_visitor's examine_edge-function. The test fails on checking zero weight edges and throws a negative_edge-exception (dijkstra_shortest_paths.hpp:190): if (m_compare(m_combine(m_zero, get(m_weight, e)), m_zero)) evaluates to if(0<=0) Any suggestions on how to solve this issue? For now I just got rid of the test, as I just use unsigned weight values, but of course that's not a sound solution.

I am using boost graph library. In order to get a filtered graph, I adopted filtered_graph. I thought it could be used in the same way as adjacency_list. But when I get target and source from an edge of a filtered graph, I realized the target and source function doesn't accept filtered_graph as its argument. How can I get the two terminals of an edge from a filtered_graph then? Thanks for any hints in advance.

[Serialization] STL Containers and Non-Default Constructors

I have recently changed from a hand-rolled serializer to Boost's and while it's mostly been fantastic, there's one problem that I can't seem to shake - I cannot get it to serialize non-default constructible types. It fails on trying to generate code that requires the usage of a default constructor. In non-associative types (list/deque/vector), the loader seems to be calling the container's resize function with a default value_type argument, resulting in the attempted creation of the object through the default constructor. In associative types, the loader attempts to create a default constructed value_type, which results in an std::pair being defaultly constructed with one of the pieces being the non-default constructible type. The code below fails during compilation with the error "'A' : no appropriate default constructor available". I'm trying to use boost::format with Borland C++ Builder 6 (Compiler version 0x564) and can't get the boost code to compile. The code was working with sprintf but I need to be able to use numbered args (i.e. "The first string is %1% and the second string is %2%." ) for localization so that the language translators can change the position the arguments appear in the translated text. How to call destructor on thread object?

I'm using the boost meta state machine and upon entry of this state, I create two threads, and stop these threads in the on_exit(). In on_entry(), I call the functors of each class and create threads and add those to a boost thread_group. What I need to do now is call the destructor of the objects on the threads ( of ClassA and ClassB) within on_exit(). I'm unclear as to how the destructors of the objects would/should be called when interrupting the threads.
