[python] Function with const wchar_t* arguments/return values

[Boost.Python] Anybody have a suggestion for the best way to expose a class's member function that accepts const wchar_t* as an argument, or returns a const wchar_t*? I'm trying to find a way to do it that does not involve writing a thin wrapper function around each of my member functions that convert to/from std:wstring or something. If it balloons up into 100 functions that interact with const wchar_t*, that's a pretty big handful of tiny wrapper functions. I apologize if this is a dumb question, but I haven't found any useful info. It all works implicitly for const char*. Any ideas? Thanks, Dan Fike

proper way to wait for threads ends

Hello I m writting a program which create threads following commands received on a socket connection. When exiting, I'd like to wait that all dynamically created threads have ended their jobs. I thought about using a shared variable (with mutual exclusion) that threads would increment at start and decrement at end. And then the program would stop, loop on sleep() while this shared variable is still > 0. Is there a better way to wait for the end of threads ?

boost::variant implictly change a pointer type to bool

Can someone give me a hint about this. If I define a variant type boost::variant<double,std::string> var; and it will not compile if I do the following: int an_int(8); int* p_int(&an_int); var=p_int; std::cout << var.which() << std::endl; But if I define the type including bool: boost::variant<double,std::string,bool> var; the above code can compile and prints 2. It seems that when type bool is in the list, any pointer assigned to var will convert to a bool. The bad thing is that the compiler will not complain about it. Is there a way to prevent the assignment of a pointer type to a boost::variant variable? I am new to boost and I would be very appreciated if someone can help me on this. Yanbin Zhang

shared_ptr<> null deleter

I have just discovered to my delight that you can use shared_ptr with a null deleter to pass around stack based objects. This is great because a function shouldn't care whether a parameter passed to it is on the heap or stack. So I can write general functions to accept a shared_ptr and if I have to pass a stack based object I can just pass a null deleter. My question is whether the boost library has anywhere in it a null deleter object, or whether it is possible to define one in place with boost::lambda or similar? It seems silly that something that I imagine would be needed quite commonly is not included in the library. Thanks, Kevin Martin

Can anyone point me in the direction of a Boost.Test example for the following scenario? 1. I have a standard install of boost trunk (svn co boost-trunk, make, make install) 2. For each class in my program, I have a cpp file containing tests for it 3. All the tests should be compiled together into a single executable I have read all the threads here I could find, and the (beta) documentation site, but I am finding all of the different link/main/initialization options very confusing, and I can't seem to find any complete examples. BoostCon & Bjam

Folks - I've heard various mumblings from sources regarding the future of BJAM, and I would honestly like to know what the verdict is. I've also heard a lot of smack about it, which I consider to be more dogma then anything. Also, I must say, as a cross platform developer I have yet to find it's equal, and would perfer to illuminate dogma where it may exist, vs. throwing up our arms hold heartedly. If that means developing a users guide to help "boost" them into bjam, then I would be happy to contribute. Cheers, Tim

Xcode 3 and boost-1_35

Hi everyone, I recently obtained a new Mackbook pro with Os X leopard on it. I installed the latest Boost library using Macports . Yet when I take my previous projects (build on Os X tiger with Xcode 2.5 and Boost -1_34_1) I have problems with the programming_options library. So I created a simple command line project (see main in the end of this mail) to track down the problem and found that Xcode is having problems with strings in the program options. I'm writing Xcode because when I compile the same code from command line using g++ there are no problems at all. So it has to be somewhere in the specifications. I'm pretty sure that I specified where to look for the header files and the libraries. I added the libprogram_options_mt-1_35.dylib as a framework to the Xcode project. So are you referring to the first shared_ptr constructor in main() (vs the constructor in share_from_this())? If so how is it initialized? In the shared_from_this() function of the enable_shared_from_this base class, the weak pointer _internal_weak_this is never initialized. Why is that so? The use_count of the _internal_weak_ptr is at least 1 as long as there is a shared_ptr already pointing to *this. How does the un-initialized weak_ptr know that there is a shared_ptr already created and how can it access the number of references? [bgl] Finding the minimum cut

I'm looking to find the global 'vertex cut' of an undirected graph. While there are special algorithms for doing this, but I have found it can be mapped into a set of directed min-cut problems, which can be mapped into the bgl. However, it seems that while I can find the value of the max flow, I cannot find the corresponding minimum cut. Am I missing something very obvious? Chris

Hi all, I am writing a hooking program for Windows Vista, this program includes an EXE module and a DLL. The DLL will be mapped to every process on the desktop and it will send hooking information to the EXE module. To implement data sending I am using boost library, the EXE module creates a shared memory area and the DLL will write hooking information in this erea. This program work correctly with almost of programs excepts Windows Vista's internet explorer when it runs in protected mode. I know that this is because Windows Vista's security but I don't know how to fix it. Please help me. Thank you and best regard.

Hello, I have a problem with a sematic action when I use int_p. Dear all, I have a code that uses a class which is basically a std::map of int and Blitz++ arrays. (I think that for this matter the Blitz++ array can be consider a plain array.) I need to save a bunch of these objects into a file and read them later during the same run. A typical run will produce a few thousands of these maps, each of them having a size of the order of 50, and each of these ~50 Blitz++ arrays holding a few thousands of doubles. Right now I'm just using the Blitz++ overloaded operator<<(>>) for the output (input), which pretty much runs over the Blitz++ array using the operator<<(>>) for doubles. I guess the serialization library with a binary archive would make a difference in the performance of my code. I've understood from the documentation that the serialization of STL container can be done just by including the proper header, but I must serialize the Blitz++ array by myself. Then I could use whichever Archive (binary in my case) I want to. My question is: is that the only thing I have to do to or I got it wrong? I've also seen an old thread in the mailing lists where it seemed that some people were pushing to include support for Blitz++ (and some other numerical stuff) built-in in the serialization library, has this ever been done ? More generally, would this be the best strategy to get a fast input/output for large numerical arrays or there is something else within Boost I could use ? Hi, I used a previous version of the Units library to sketch out a fps system (foot-pound-second) that paralleled the cgs system, and the code compiled and ran fine. I am now returning to this effort, and I want to wrap it into a coordinate transform package, but I can no longer get the code to compile. I am using the latest code from the Boost sandbox, and MS Visual Studio with WinXP. What are the tradeoffs? 2- Curve is an internal implementation object of my library. However, private derived classes from Curve will be exposed to library users. So Curve's header will have to be exposed too. I guess public inheritance from map is fine? There are no public constructors. 3- Constructing the curve is not performance-critical, but the operator(), inverse, derivative and integral are. I have played with native arrays, with map and with boost::multi_array with optimized macros, and it seems operator() when it is a simple linear interpolation is fastest with maps (because they are sorted). Do I need to build it before I can use it? or I can include all its source files into my project to get my project built? Hi, I was recently introduced to boost's shared_ptr and I really liked the fact that freeing memory is done automatically. So I started using it in almost every case, instead of the dangerous C-style pointers. However, I'm having a design issue concerning shared_ptr. Hello, I need to serialize into and from a memory buffer using boost::archive::binary_oarchive and binary_iarchive. Using std::stringstream does not work (it does work with text_oarchive and text_iarchive in memory and using files). I found a mention in the archives about similar need here: http://lists.boost.org/boost-users/2007/10/31580.php But I cannot figure it out. boost::bind and shared pointers

I have this problem. Im using boost::bind for programming the call-back mechanism for a gui system and to pass messages (possibly, delayed messages). My problem is, that when i bind member functions, if i specify the instance of the class as a shared_ptr, then i get memory leaks because the binding's shared_ptr to the instance keeps it alive, and it potentially produces cyclic references that in the current model, would be complicated to break. And of course, if i use raw pointers to the binding instances, then i'll get a crash if the instance has been destroyed and i try to execute the binding function. So what i would need, is to use bind with weak pointers, and just do nothing if locking it fails. I'm not sure how to do that, or how to assemble a good walkaround. I'd like it to be as automatic as possible. Thanks for your time, i appreciate any help :)

Question on how to build Date_Time libraries to static linking

Hi list: After a couple years with success in using the Boost Date_Time library in Windows with minGW, now y need port the application to MS Visual C++ (actually using 2008 Express edition C++ 9.0). I downloaded the Boost 1.35.0 version, and generated the binary files with this command: bjam release debug threading=multi --toolset=msvc stage The documentation states that, in this case, the names for the libraries to static linking respond to the structure: "libboost_date_time-xxxx.lib" and that the definition libraries respond to the schema "boost_date-time-xxx.lib". In fact, along with some DLLs, I have obtained some .LIB files: boost_date_time-vc90-mt-1_35.lib boost_date_time-vc90-mt.lib boost_date_time-vc90-mt-gd-1_35.lib boost_date_time-vc90-mt-gd.lib but only four libboost_xxx.lib: libboost_test_exec_monitor-vc90-mt-1_35.lib libboost_test_exec_monitor-vc90-mt.lib libboost_test_exec_monitor-vc90-mt-gd-1_35.lib libboost_test_exec_monitor-vc90-mt-gd.lib I want use static linking with the library, so the compiler complain when looking for the file libboost_date_time-vc90-mt-gd-1_35.lib The question is: Some idea on how to get that file? Problem compiling against boost on AIX using xlC

Dynamic parser?

Hello, I have a question. I need a parser which i can generate dynamically. e.g. I have to parse a xml or header file which I get from someone. Now I want to read this file (e.g. with spirit) and generate inside the running program an parser (it should be used to display information which is send and received over different I/O) Is this possible with spirit? Hi, I am trying to modify a set of file parser callback functions (for a custom file format) to populate a Boost graph. The callbacks provide a (void*) pointer style parameter passing. But Boost graph method add_vertex(graph) will return a vertex descriptor. How do I obtain the pointer information for this newly added vertex so that the pointer can be cast as (void*) and passed to the appropriate call back? Thanks, Ananth

Hi, I have a problem using boost.regex to parse a message. The message contains an unknown number of handles terminated by a tab. Each handle has four hex digits. Tribool issue with logical operators && and ||

Hello boost-users I just ran into quite a bad issue with boost::tribool. The overloaded operators && and || may (and normally do) evaluate the righthand side of logical expressions although not needed/permitted. They i.e. evaluate the rhs expression in a conjunction where the first term is false. This leads of course to very surprising results. IMHO, the provided operators should be removed or should honor normal semantics. Shall I issue a bug-report? I think the current situation is quite unconvincingly. Regards James

I know that Qt has one (QLibrary), but the fact is that I don't like using Qt, I like programming with stl and boost. I just use Qt when I have to develop a visual application. Thanks in advance.

I am trying to expose a C++ function which takes an std::vector<double> as its argument, some void A::foo(std::vector<double> v); And perhaps void A::bar(std::vector<double> & v); Whether it is a good practice to have such arguments is, of course, open to debate (shouldn't they be iterators?), but this is what I have to work with. I am asking because the expat static library provided by ubuntu 8.04 is compiled for non PIC object. Hello, I encounter many scenarios where a thread needs to sleep on both an IO event and a logical event. Here's a common case. Thread A is an IO thread. It gets data from a socket, puts it in a buffer pool, and notifies thread B. Thread B is a worker thread. It calculates stuff, then returns buffers to the pool. It follows then that thread A sometimes sleeps on IO (when waiting for socket data), and sometimes sleeps waiting for the pool to become non-empty. It would be nice if there were a uniform way for the thread to sleep on stuff. For example, using Windows API, a completion port can be used to sleep on both a socket and an event object. In UNIX, thread A could select both a socket (for data) and a pipe. I don't, however, understand how to do so cleanly using asio. Anything that I can think up doubles up the size/complexity of the code, and seems to use more system calls. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks, TD

Boost Bimap Question

Hello, I've started using boost bimap recently and i encountered a problem. With the standard c++ containers, I can always use forward declaration of my classes in the interface files (header files) and then include the appropriate header files in the implementation files (source files). With boost bimap this seems to be not possible. Lets say I've MyClass and I do like this. ---------------------------- class MyClass boost::bimap<string, MyClass> my_bimap ; -------------------------- The compiler spits out a lot of error messages. But If i avoid forward declaration and include MyClass header file before declaring boost::bimap, every thing is normal. Hello, i want to etablish a secure communication between my client and my server. To do so, I use boost.asio with openssl. First question: Do I have to build and include the openssl library libraries on my own (I do so now and it is working fine...)? Second question: The ssl-context for server and client is: ssl::context Context(IOService, ssl::context::sslv23); Context.set_options(ssl::context::default_workarounds); Context.set_verify_mode(ssl::context::verify_none); the client simply connects to the (listening) server pSSLSocket->lowest_layer().connect(ip::tcp::endpoint(ip::address_v4(acIP),999)); pSSLSocket->handshake(ssl::stream_base::client); the server executes an async_handshake if it accepts a new connection m_SSLSocket.async_handshake(ssl::stream_base::server, bind(&CConnection::OnHandshake, this, placeholders::error)); Unfortunately the async_handshake call (or the corresponding run call) fails. I am not sure why as I am not able to attach a debugger to my application, but the application definitely crashes. What's wrong?

Hi! After upgrading my app from boost 1.34.1 to 1.35 I found that I am unable to pack my exe-files using upx.exe. The error message upx gives is: CantPackException: TLS callbacks are not supported I'm guessing this has anything to do with boost::threads that I'm using? Any way to get this fixed? memory mapped io and boost

Dear All, from what it looks like the memory mapped io classes in boost::interprocess cannot deal with readonly files. This is a big problem. I think opening readonly files should be possible but all write operations to the file should fail. Of course mapping a readonly file should be done with the matching flags so that the mapping can be shared and that the matching address space is readonly. Also another drawback is that at least on Windows disk-space is being allocated when growing a file. This is slow and it can be avoided by making the file sparse. On UNIXs this is the default. [build] alignment issues

Hello *, for some reason we have in our project fixed alignment of 4bytes (Win32, VC71, Boost 1.34.0). Unfortunately boost was either compiled with default alignment or boost threads compilation ignored the alignment setting. In this regards I have the following questions: 1. Are boost libs being tested with different alignments especially with fixed ones? Is it safe to set an alignment of 4bytes and maybe later of 8bytes? 2. Is there a special flag (for 1.34.0) which needs to be passed to bjam to set a fixed alignment? Currently these are the only setting which are overridden in user.hpp: #define BOOST_DISABLE_ABI_HEADERS #define BOOST_ALL_DYN_LINK Many thanks, Ovanes

online change of iostream filter

I was wondering if it is possible to change the filter used to write to or read form a file without closing/reopening the file? The usecase is reading/writing matlab files, which contain zipped blocks within a context of unzipped data. So I would need to be able to switch on compression once such a block starts and switch off afterwards, and it would be nice not to have to ftell/close/create appropriate stream/open/ fseek every time. Can asio::deadline_timer be "reused" after its original wait has been completed? I am seeing irregular behaviour around resetting already expired timers - sometimes they fail to function. I am resetting the timer by using expires_from_now method. (Boost 1.34.1 with asio 0.3.9) Thanks, Sharad

Hi, Is there a way to create more general views of a multi_array than using start- and finish-indexes together with a stride? For example, I would like to create a view of a 2-dimensional multi_array by explicitly choosing the indexes: For a 10x10 matrix A, I want to be able to specify a 3x3 view with first dimension indexes 2,3,8 and second dimension indexes 5,6,9. For this example my_view[0][0] would access the element A[2][5], and my_view[1][2] would access element A[3][9]. Is this possible? An idea would be to write my own index_range class. But there is no index_range concept as far as I can tell... /ALiX

The Boost online documentation appears to be missing any message of this metafunction. Is this an error in the book or an error in the documentation ? regex lib for Windows Mobile

I'm trying to get the regex library (Boost ver. 1.34.1) working under Visual Studio 7.0 and the Windows Mobile 6 SDK, and have run into the following problems: 1. Need to modify visualc.hpp to define BOOST_NO_STD_LOCALE and BOOST_NO_SWPRINTF. 2. WM6 runtime library doesn't have strxfrm() or wcsxfrm(). 3. regex lib makes direct calls to ansi versions of CreateFile(), LoadLibrary(), FindFirstFile(), and others (i.e. CreateFileA(), etc.) that don't exist on the WM platform. 4. w32_regex_traits.cpp has a pragma that links directly to a library that doesn't exist for WM. (user32.lib) #1 is normal and trivial, of course, but before I tackle #2 and #3 by either writing my own versions of the missing functions or modifying the regex source, and #4 by modifying the regex source (which I really hate to do, but I can't think of any other way around this one) I want to make sure I didn't miss anything. Is there some combination of #defines or project settings that should allow the library to build for VS 7 Windows Mobile? Am I about to do more work than I need to? Thanks. Freeman

Building Boost with VC9 and VC8

Hi, I have visual studio 2005 and visual studio 2008 installed on my machine, and I would like to build Boost only with Visual Studio 2005 If I use the following command, bjam --toolset=msvc ... and it only builds libboost-<libname>-vc9-mt.lib or .dll If I use the folllowing command bjam --toolset=msvc-80 ... it builds libraries it without specifying the version number of Visual C++ compiler, eg. libboost-<libname>-vc-mt.lib. My environment is set to use the compiler for VC8. So far the workaround I've found is to uninstall Visual Studio 2008, Build Boost with Visual Studio 2005. Reinstall Visual Studio 2008. Any ideas on how to avoid this? Thanks, Haroon

Hi! If I use BOOST_AUTO_TEST_CASE_EXPECTED_FAILURES I would expect it to be an error when I have less as well as too many errors in the marked testcases. Understanding MPL and using '::type'

I am making another effort to understand MPL. I have the book by David Abrahams and Aleksey Gurtovoy, "C++ Template Programming", which is my basic source for learning the library, and I have the Boost documentation for the MPL. After reading chapter 3 again I think I understand the basic concepts more easily. However I am still missing something basic, which I think can be given the name: "How do I understand when to append and when not to append the '::type' to a metaprogramming construct built with MPL". Let me first say that I fully understand that '::type' is the way that the MPL returns compile time data in its metafunctions. Also that I understand that '::type' may refer to compile time numeric data ( including bool ) in the eventual form of '::type::value' and that '::value' is often supplied as a shorthand for compile time numeric data. Finally I do understand that to pass metafunctions around when a type is needed the MPL uses a metafunction class, which is a type and not a template. What I am missing is how to determine when using MPL functionality, whether it be data types, sequences, iterators, algorithms, or views being manipulated, when to append '::type' to the end of the intermediary expression or not. Let me give some examples of my confusion based on my reading in the MPL book listed above. I am reading about algorithms and I see an example whose logic I perfectly understand, and whose syntax goes like this: template<class Seq> struct biggest_float_as_double : mpl::deref < typename mpl::max_element < typename mpl::replace < Seq, float, double >::type, mpl::less < mpl::sizeof_<_1>, mpl::sizeof_<_2> > >::type > {}; In two cases in the nested construct above one uses the 'typename xxx<...>::type' construct whereas in one case one does not. There seems to be some logic or rule about this but I do not understand what it is. A few pages later in the text I see: typedef mpl::vector < mpl::vector_c<int, 1, 2, 3>, mpl::vector_c<int, 4, 5, 6>, mpl::vector_c<int, 7, 8, 9> > S; typedef mpl::transform < S, mpl::front<_>, mpl::inserter < mpl::int_<0>, mpl::plus<_,_> > > ::type sum; Here we have another nested mpl construct and I do understand the logic of it, but here there are no internal nested '::type' statements. Once again I am utterly puzzled about the whys and wherefores of using or not using '::type'. Finally I turn the page and I see this MPL construct: template<class Seq> struct reverse : mpl::fold < Seq, typename mpl::clear<Seq>::type, mpl::push_front<_,_> > {}; Once again I can follow the logic and the explanation of mpl::fold, but I have no idea by what rule one of the nested constructs has '::type' appended and the next one does not. As a naive learner of the MPL I would have thought it would have been much easier to use if every MPL construct ( mpl::xxx... ) returned a '::type', and then this business of when to use and when not to use '::type' would have been regularized, but evidently MPL does not work that way. Since I still do not understand the rule about this, hopefully someone who knows MPL, and who realizes that while I understand the basic concepts I am still trying to understand it, can enlighten me on this subject.

[enable_if] enable if member function present

I would like to able to provide two versions of a function where one is enabled for only POD types and other another if the object provides a usable member function (mainly used for compatible non POD types). Anything else should fail to compile. The first part is easy. I can do this with: template< class T > typename boost::enable_if< boost::is_pod<T>, void >::type DoSomething( T& object ) { ... } But, I'm not sure how to do the second part. For example: template< class T > typename boost::enable_if< has "DoSomething" member, void >::type DoSomething( T& object ) { Object.DoSomething(); } Perhaps it would be easier to check for a defined typedef inside the object? But, I'm not sure on that either. Additionally, if possible: If both conditions can be satisfied then the second version (member function) should be preferred. Is this possible? Thanks, -- Bill --

If I replace boost::ptr_list to std::list the output will correct (i. e. '134') Main question is following: is such behavior correct for certain kind of container? I suspect what ptr-containers preserve standard semantic of corresponded standard containers. And erasing from the ptr_list does not invalidate iterators to this list (exclude cases described in the Standard). Or ptr_list::erase_if algorithm does not preserve semantic of ptr_list::remove_if algorithm? But there is nothing about such behavior in the documentation. PS: I know what erase_if algorithm has generic implementation (in the ptr_sequence class) and has not special implementation for ptr_list. But documentation has the following sentence: " Iterators are invalidated as in the corresponding standard container Because the containers in this library wrap standard containers, the rules for invalidation of iterators are the same as the rules of the corresponding standard container. set_difference with lists strangeness

Hi, I have a bug when using set_difference with lists which puzzles me. The code runs like this: list<int> nids,gnids,rnids; //fill nids and gnids nids.sort(); gnids.sort(); set_difference(nids.begin(), nids.end(), gnids.begin(), gnids.end(), rnids.begin()); It works as expected in debug mode (-O0) but crashes in optimized mode (-O3). rnids is still empty after set_difference and the program crashes as soon as I try to use rnids. If I use a vector of the right size for rnids everything works. Obviously the memory allocation for the receiving list is optimized away. Is this not against the idea of the STL algorithms? BGL write_graphviz won't compile with listS or setS

I cannot get calls to write_graphviz to work when using anything other than vecS for the vertex and edge descriptors. [boost test] feature

Hello Gennadiy, I have a question on may be existing or potential feature. I works with a group of developers on a huge project. Our current intention is to test some (huge) software parts on the target using boost::test framework. Unfortunately the software produces some gigs of executables, so that we can not (and probably should not test all of them). I know we could group the test cases into the test suites and build dependencies between them, but that requires a lot of time for the system, which is being developed for some years. Speaking with the collegues I came accross an issue to write test code inbetween the productive code and include only required files in the final test suites. Is it an utopic idea and do you think that could be implemented in boost::test? A small example: productive_header.h productive_impl.cpp some class defined here this class implemented here some use cases declared here & compiled if test code compilation test case implementations here as well After all I can compile: <productive executable> without tests by simply including productive_header.h <test executable> with test by defining BOOST_TEST_MAIN and including productive_header.h May be this already works so and you can point me to the documentation, where it is stated. Hi all, First of all, a lot of thanks for the boost users community for all the prompt responses that I have been getting on this mailing list. It is really helping me get started and running quickly. Like we have tools in IDEs that generate the Makefiles automatically, do we have tools that generate these Jamfiles automatically. I think writing our own Jamfiles and maintaining it for huge projects would be very cumbersome and error prone. Also, when we use bjam, do these Boost libraries and header files get included automatically? How do that configure Boost/bjam so that it always includes a set of includes and some libraries whenever it compiles any file? Which config file is for that? I have recently installed the Boost Bindings and installed them separately. But I dont think Bjam is including it automatically. Thanks,. Ajay G.

How to dynamically link a shared library to a C++ program using bjam and Boost.build ?

Hi all, I have written a program that uses the ATLAS library and some boost libraries. When I try to compile the program it says that the function cblas_dgemm() is not found. However, I have installed ATLAS properly on my machine and the libcblas.a and libcblas.so exist in the folder /usr/local/atlas/lib. How do I tell it to bjam via Jamfile that my program wants to link to this library? The Tutorial on Boost.Build tells how to include header files using <include> tag, but how to link dynamic shared libraries? What should I write in the Jamfile to make this work?

how to get started with the boost uBlas thing?

Hi all, I recently installed the Boost library and I am interested in using the Boost.UBlas library along with the Boost.UBlas bindings. Since, I have never even used Linear Algebra packages like BLAS,LAPACK,ATLAS etc., I am finding it very difficult to get started with Boost.UBlas or the bindings library. I am especially finding it very hard to find which method is appropriate to call for a particular task due to the huge set of functions provided by BLAS. It would be nice if I could get pointers or suggestions to get started with these linear algebra packages. boost::test timeouts and auto test suites

I have been searching documentation and mailing lists and not coming up with an answer on this. Within a BOOST_FIXTURE_TEST_CASE can i set a timeout for individual tests? I'm using 1.31.1 and I am aware that a test_unit has a property "p_timeout." I just don't know how to get to it.
