[intrusive] slist: strange behaviour when using cache_last

Hi, I have two slists and transfer items between them via splice() methods. Without cache_last everything works as expected. With cache_last the third call to splice does not transfer the list element. Am I using something wrong or is this a bug in intrusive? Hello, at the moment I want to solve the following problem: I have a data struct which has several fields. Now I need to expose this fields as name/value pairs (the best would be if the value is a ref parameter). Okay I can write this things by hand. Hi, I'm trying to create simple locks based on a string name. I looked at the interprocess module which has a named mutex, but it seems not well suited/efficient for use in a single process, though I know it's supposed to work. Instead, I'm just creating a map<string,weak_ptr<mutex>> in a NamedMutexManager class. It's used as a singleton and uses brute force locking to implement a named lock pattern. I use value_initialized for this type T effectively, and the value gets value initialized correctly when the default constructor of my class is used. While trying to check the reason for BOOST_CLASS_EXPORT not working with templates, I found out the problem is simply a preprocessor issue - it treats each comma as a seperation between values, so it treats a template (as below) as two inputs (and the MACRO accepts only one). I just discovered the Regex algorithm selection macros that have been around for a long time. I noticed that BOOST_REGEX_RECURSIVE is supposed to enable a faster algorithm, and it is not the default on Linux systems. This is a summary of the review of the Egg library by Shunsuke Sogame. The main issue with this review was the low number of reviews submitted, despite a reasonable amount of discussion on the list. In total only 1 review was received, from Giovanni Piero Deretta. This review was a yes vote, contingent on a mini review of improved documentation. Given this extremely low review count, unfortunately Egg cannot be accepted into Boost at this time. The remainder of this summary will cover some of … [View More]the themes relating to lack of reviews, and also other highlights of the review. I'll start with some positive notes. Several comments on the list suggested that functionality in Egg was wanted by users, and that they would like to see Egg in Boost in some form in the future. Several writers also pointed out the high quality of the implementation of Egg, and technical issues were not really a focus of the discussions. During discussions on the developer several reviewers comments on the quality / style of the documentation for Egg. Motivation seemed to be a big issue in these comments, questions of the form "why should I use Egg versus Boost.XXX" were common. There typically were good reasons to use Egg, but these were not apparent to readers of the documentation. A related issue that cropped up was the sheer scale of Egg, one potential review was withdrawn as the scale of Egg was so large that the reviewer felt he could not do it justice. A couple of reviews pointed out that the documentation could be hard to follow, sometimes as the assumed expertise of the readers was possibly too high, and also for other reasons, such as the __ prefixed notation used in a lot of the documentation. Both Giovanni and Daniel Walker generously offered to provide assistance with the documentation for Egg. Joel de Guzman pointed out that that the timing of the review was poor, as it was in the immediate run up to Boostcon, and many potential reviewers would be busy with preparation for that event. This comment was supported by several people I discussed this with at Boostcon. There was much incredibly detailed technical discussion, which I cannot do justice to here. In summary I believe key points of the review were: * The number of reviews was insufficient to accept the library in its current form. This seemed to be due to documentation issues making reviews difficult, and the poor timing of the review before Boostcon. * The library was of high technical quality, and the functionality was needed by Boost users in some form. * Documentation issues would definitely need to be addressed before the library could be satisfactorily reviewed and accepted into Boost. I'd like to thank Shunsuke Sogame for submitting the library, and the hard work that he has put in so far. I'd like to encourage him to continue his efforts, and to take up the offers of assistance with documentation if he feels it appropriate. I personally would like to see many parts of Egg in Boost in some form in the future, and other reviewers seemed to agree. Hello I m writting a program which create threads following commands received on a socket connection. When exiting, I'd like to wait that all dynamically created threads have ended their jobs. I thought about using a shared variable (with mutual exclusion) that threads would increment at start and decrement at end. The use_count of the _internal_weak_ptr is at least 1 as long as there is a shared_ptr already pointing to *this. How does the un-initialized weak_ptr know that there is a shared_ptr already created and how can it access the number of references? While there are special algorithms for doing this, but I have found it can be mapped into a set of directed min-cut problems, which can be mapped into the bgl. Dear all, I have a code that uses a class which is basically a std::map of int and Blitz++ arrays. (I think that for this matter the Blitz++ array can be consider a plain array.) I need to save a bunch of these objects into a file and read them later during the same run. Hi, I used a previous version of the Units library to sketch out a fps system (foot-pound-second) that paralleled the cgs system, and the code compiled and ran fine. I am now returning to this effort, and I want to wrap it into a coordinate transform package, but I can no longer get the code to compile. I am using the latest code from the Boost sandbox, and MS Visual Studio with WinXP. Do I need to build it before I can use it? or I can include all its source files into my project to get my project built? Hi, I am trying to modify a set of file parser callback functions (for a custom file format) to populate a Boost graph. The callbacks provide a (void*) pointer style parameter passing. But Boost graph method add_vertex(graph) will return a vertex descriptor. The overloaded operators && and || may (and normally do) evaluate the righthand side of logical expressions although not needed/permitted. Need to build a web interface (UI) of some sort to be able to remove vertices from the graph object within the c++ application. Hello, I'm poking around in the library for something like a hashmap and I found this file: http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_35_0/boost/interprocess/indexes/unordered_m… (boost/interprocess/indexes/unordered_map_index.hpp) which includes this: #include <boost/unordered_map.hpp> which doesn't exist. Hello, Is there any way to build the bgl with graphml support, using an expat static lib which has been compiled without the '--with-pic' configure option? I am asking because the expat static library provided by ubuntu 8.04 is compiled for non PIC object. Hi! After upgrading my app from boost 1.34.1 to 1.35 I found that I am unable to pack my exe-files using upx.exe. The error message upx gives is: CantPackException: TLS callbacks are not supported I'm guessing this has anything to do with boost::threads that I'm using? Any way to get this fixed? I think opening readonly files should be possible but all write operations to the file should fail. I read the instructions on the bcp tool, but it seems I need to tar the whole release before making my single library extraction. Any suggestions on using tar to only extract the Graph library? online change of iostream filter

I was wondering if it is possible to change the filter used to write to or read form a file without closing/reopening the file? The usecase is reading/writing matlab files, which contain zipped blocks within a context of unzipped data. So I would need to be able to switch on compression once such a block starts and switch off afterwards, and it would be nice not to have to ftell/close/create appropriate stream/open/ fseek every time. Can asio::deadline_timer be "reused" after its original wait has been completed? I am seeing irregular behaviour around resetting already expired timers - sometimes they fail to function. I am resetting the timer by using expires_from_now method. (Boost 1.34.1 with asio 0.3.9) Thanks, Sharad
