[Regex]Converting from old style to new style

I used to be able to write this : void LineTracker::Analyse(const std::string &Buffer) { std::string::const_iterator start, end; start = Buffer.begin(); end = Buffer.end(); boost::regex_grep(std::bind1st(std::mem_fun(&LineTracker::grep_callback), this), start, end, expression); } to get the regex to call back into my class. With the change to the new style using iterator I can do this. void LineTracker::Analyse(const std::string &Buffer) { boost::sregex_iterator m1(Buffer.begin(), Buffer.end(), expression); boost::sregex_iterator m2; std::for_each(m1, m2, *this); } However for_each makes a copy of my class, so at the end it does not update the current instance with the results. What do I need to do to have the the current instance receive the call back from regex? John.

Not really :( Maybe the compiler gets confused by the presence of the template function std::mem_fun (does your "Item.h" explicitly or implicitly include <functional>?), but this is only a wild guess. In any case, this is a compiler bug, likely to solve if you upgrade your GCC copy. [mpl] Collapsing sequences of integer constants

Greetings, I'm trying to come up with an algorithm that will "collapse" a sequence of integer constants by adding like elements together. For example, typedef vector_c< int, 1,1,1,3,5,5,7,10,10 > input; would become: typedef vector_c< int, 3, 3, 10, 7, 20 > result; You can assume the sequence is already sorted. The attached file tries to mimic your scenario (with a dummy Item definition) and here everything works OK. Could you please try it in your environment? I guess the problem is not in what you describe, but in what you don't, I mean, sorrounding details that you're taking for granted. Things to check: * Are you using some using directive? Which one? * Are you doing some funny thing with the "mem_fun" identifier inside "Item.h"? * What happens if you fully qualify mem_fun, i.e. if you write ::boost::multi_index::mem_fun? Hi : I'm just starting to use boost utility library and it seems very promising. I am trying to define a new multi_index type and gcc it's giving me error messages. Question about program_options

Regarding boost::program_options: I would like to parse (and then store) some command-line options that potentially contain unregistered flags, and I understand from <<http://www.boost.org/doc/html/program_options/howto.html#id2716386>> that the way to do this is: basic_command_line_parser<char> parser(argc, argv); basic_parsed_options<char> parsed(parser.options(options).allow_unregistered().run()); Indeed this works--for parsing. But how do I store the resulting parsed options (in a way that ignores the unregistered ones)? Simply calling store(parsed, vm); throws a boost::program_options::unknown_option exception. I can take the (brute force) step of erasing from parsed.options all elements for which the unregistered attribute is true, and then calling store(parsed, vm). That seems to work, but it so clumsy that it makes me think I'm using the system in a way that was not intended. Can anyone help? Thank you. MD P.S. There is a bug in the doc: "collect_arguments(...)" on the last line of the above link should be collect_unrecognized(...); similarly, in the source code parsers.hpp (line 158) there is a mention of the nonexistent function "collect_unregistered"). By refering to message http://groups.google.com/group/boost-list/browse_frm/thread/79dba906901d039… I am also facing similar problem. I need to iterate through the content of map, and remove the constantness before deserialization. Due to this, I need to save the map size into disk as well. I know that there is no obvious fix for this. However, I was wondering whether is there any much better workaround? Thank you very much! yccheok

Robert, I forced a crude solution by defining a custom XML output archive and defining My_Archive::save_override(const nvp<T>&, int) as below. This would double the class information in some objects, so I also set the BOOST_CLASS_IMPLEMENTATION to object_serializable for my serialized classes. It is crude, but seems to give me the results I need. class My_Archive : public boost::archive::xml_oarchive_impl<OArchive_Versioned> { ... template<class T> void save_override( #ifndef BOOST_NO_FUNCTION_TEMPLATE_ORDERING const #endif ::boost::serialization::nvp<T> & t, int) { save_start(t.name()); if (boost::serialization::implementation_level<T>::value >= boost::serialization::object_serializable) { write_attribute("version", boost::serialization::version<T>::value, "=\""); } boost::archive::save(* this->This(), t.const_value()); save_end(t.name()); } // redeclared fall thru versions of all specialized versions of save_override omitted for space }; By examining the library's source code, I have determined that the tracking of class traits in serialization occurs in basic_oarchive_impl::save_object, defined in basic_oarchive.cpp. It uses the class cobject_type to track classes it has seen. Because basic_archive_impl and cobject_type are completely defined within basic_archive.cpp, the ability to customize XML attributes is limited. Perhaps future versions of Serialization could look into making the XML optionally generate an XML schema for interoperation with other XML-based applications. But when i am integrating this code with a multithreaded application it is giving this error:- terminate called after throwing an instance of 'boost::regex_error' what(): Invalid content of repeat range Aborted Can you please help me in this.
