Hello, I have built boost v1.45 using Intel compiler 11.1: $ bjam toolset=intel --with-mpi --with-thread --with-serialization \ --prefix=$HOME/local variant=release link=static install Then using the same intel compiler I use the static boost libraries from above to compile a code which uses boost.mpi and boost.serialization explicitly. My code depends on a 3rd party dynamic library which 'requires': libboost_thread-gcc41-mt-1_34_1.so.1.34.1 libboost_signals-gcc41-mt-1_34_1.so.1.34.1 Should I be concerned about conflicting compilers ? In general if I've built the boost libraries (thread, mpi, ...) using Intel toolset, will it peacefully work with system's standard C/C++ libraries build by GCC? thanks in advance,

Boost.MPI: question about documentation of gather()

Hello, I am trying to debug my simple code (gathering of double arrays onto master). and naturally I opened gather online help: http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_45_0/doc/html/boost/mpi/gather.html In Parameters section, for 'in_values', it is stating that if gathering arrays of values, 'in_values' should be pointing to a storage of n*comm.size() values Shouldn't this be n*size_of(T) or something in those lines? Am I missing some obvious points here ? thanks in advance, Hamid

How to use a P12 container with Boost::Asio

Hi, I need to connect to a server via SSL. The only thing I have is an P12 container, but I can not find any hint in the Boost::Asio examples and documentation on how to use it. Is it possible to use a P12 with Boost::Asio, as described in here with PEM: http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_45_0/doc/html/boost_asio/example/ssl/client… Or can I use some kind of bytestream and just hardcode it for now, e.g. create a bytearray, put the content of the P12 in there and use it with Bosst::Asio? Is this possible? Andi

Hi there, I'm trying to track down a problem I have with building boost and quickbooks. For this I started out with a fresh download of boost 1.45. NewBie: help needed generating documentation with quickbook and bjam

Hello, this is a absolute newbie question: I try to write some documentation using quickbook. I was able to generate a .xml file. But now I have no idea how to produce a html or pdf version thereof. I read some documentation about bjam and installed the neccessary libraries (I hope). But I didn't find any documentation about how to write a .jam file for this purpose. Can someone help solving this (dumb) question? -- Wilhelm

serialization: pointers to base classes

Hello, I am unclear about registration and export. I have this public single-derivation hierarchy B | \ \ D1 D2 D3 | D11 The 5 structs are non abstract. I will want to serialize (save) const B* and load it back with the serialization lib constructing for me (on the heap) the right object. Did I understand right that the library does this for me? Does it construct the object on the heap? I export the 5 structs with the macro BOOST_CLASS_EXPORT_GUID(ns::B, "B") at global namespace level. Do I have to register them too? template <class Archive> void serialize(Archive &ar, ns::B&, const unsigned int version) { ar.template register_type<D1>(); ar.template register_type<D2>(); ar.template register_type<D3>(); ar.template register_type<D11>(); } or do I register for each class only the immediate derived? regards,

Traditionally the main face-to-face event for all things Boost (www.boost.org) BoostCon 2011 will present leading speakers from the whole C++ community. From using the Boost libraries to writing and maintaining them, from evangelizing to deploying Boost within your organization, from infrastructure and process to vision and mission, and the new C++ Standard, BoostCon brings together the sessions, the colleagues, and the inspiration to support your work with C++ and Boost in particular for the next year.
