Hi all, I want to create a managed_shared_memory in exactly the size I needed. Therefore I do something like this: size = sizeof( common_managed_shared_memory ); size += sizeof( MyClassInSharedMem ); managed_shared_memory segment(create_only, "name", size ); MyClassInSharedMem allocates itself some memory by segment->allocate(). I added this also to the size, but get a boost::interprocess::bad_alloc exception on allocating this additional memory. Are there some magic bytes I forgot to add? Many thanks in advance Kai

Weird compilation error when using boost::geometry

Hi, I have implemented my own "point" as specified by the point concept http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_59_0/libs/geometry/doc/html/geometry/refere… When I use it along with boost::geometry::model::polygon/multi_polygon, GCC refuses to compile, tested on GCC 4.9/5.2. What's even more weird is that CLANG 3.6 would happy accept my code. BTW, the Point implementation is part of a large project, it difficult to replace it with boost::geometry::model::point. [Interprocess] Communication between x86 and x64 issue

I want to communicate between different platforms using boost interprocess. I am using vc12 and boost 1.58 on windows 7. My code below is a very simple example, that should work. But it doesn't for communications between different platforms... hi I am using like this where RunningThreads_ is vector containing boost thread object pointer(handler).I am using interrupt() for the interruption of thread interruption_point() catching that interruption then joining.everytime its crashing in join() for me but for others who have the same configuration its working fine all of us has windos 8. parallelised ODE solvers

Dear all, I am trying to integrate a simple 2 variable ODE system. I wanted to know which of the solvers listed here : http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_56_0/libs/numeric/odeint/doc/html/boost_num… are parallelised for multicore CPU’s and GPU’s? Perhaps using Thrust for the Nvidia/CUDA GPU end of things? I am principally interested if someone has managed to make/port a library for parallelised RK45 methods. program_option parsing error

Hello everyone, I have a question about program_option library. If I have argv=["binaryname", "--port", "5"] and port have set default_value=6 and implicit_value=7 what should be the value of port after parsing argv? I am asking because this test https://github.com/mongodb/mongo/blob/0481c958daeb2969800511e7475dc66986fa9… is failing with boost 1.59 (with boost 1.58 it is passing). I have a strange problem with mingw-w64, gcc-5.2.0 in 32bits on windows in release. The following code leads to a crash (it is working in 64 bits and in debug). The adress of return in the stack seems to be broken. I was not able to reduce it more than this, and in particular I am not able to remove BOOST_CHECK_CLOSE (using BOOST_CHECK_EQUAL works). This can be either a bug in gcc (false code generation) or something else. Heap: what is expected from T?

Hi, I'm using a heap whose elements are value_type from a map; hence the key type is const. Some heaps seem to accept this gracefully, other just fail to compile. Is this expected? I saw no requirement about T in the documentation. [multi_index_container] Using equal_range with hashed indices

Hello! std::equal_range requires that the container be pre-sorted ( http://www.cplusplus.com/reference/algorithm/equal_range/) How does multi-index container handle this scenario with respect to hashed non-unique indices. The reason I ask is since I'm facing a situation with equal_range. Crash in managed_shared_memory

annoying warnings with mingw-w64 gcc-5.2.0

When I compile my code with gcc version 5.2.0 (x86_64-posix-seh-rev0, Built by MinGW-W64 project), I have annoying warnings with boost/utf and boost/asio (1.59). For example if I compile this simple file : #define BOOST_TEST_MODULE ExactSuite #include "boost/test/unit_test.hpp" I get : c:\Users\Renaud\nest\external\boost_1_59_0/boost/test/unit_test_log.hpp:130:28: warning: 'boost::unit_test::{anonymous}::unit_test_log' defined but not used [-Wunused-variable] BOOST_TEST_SINGLETON_INST( unit_test_log ) I can add #pragma GCC diagnostic ignored "-Wunused-variable" just before the include but it seems strange (and I have to do it in few other files). Does someone have similar problem ? or a better fix ?

Hi, I am trying to write a simple program which processes large gziped files as streams. However, it turns out, that for some reason reading is very slow and it takes almost 10 times more to even count single lines as compared to a Java equivalent or "gunzip -c largefile.gz | wc -l". any_cast and added low-level const -> throws

Hi, can anyone explain why an any_cast that adds a low-level const throws?? Example: char str[] = "a2"; boost::any ay(str); boost::any_cast<const char*>(ay); // throws, since a const is added!!! The only way to do this (without throwing), seems to be: boost::any_cast<char*>(ay); But why this mild "design deficiency"?? I call it "design deficiency", since the following is legal and works: char str2[] = "str2"; static_cast<const char *>(str2); So we should be able to add a low-level const, to make something read-only, right. Boost.Locale on Windows not building with runtime-link=static

Hello there, once every year or so I have to rebuilt boost for the current compiler/settings combination I work with. This time it's the following: Visual Studio 2015 32 and 64bit static linking statically linked runtime I built boost from within the VS2015 developer console using this command line: c:\projects\boost_1_59_0>.\b2 variant=debug,release link=static runtime-link=static address-model=32 --stagedir=stage32 -sICU_PATH=C:\projects\icu Works great. Except that Boost.Locale does not respect the "runtime-link=static" and builds for dynamically linked runtime instead. The build process therefore builds all dependencies (system, chrono, thread) again with dynamic runtime linking and then builds Boost.Locale. When I'm trying to use this setup in my game, the boost auto-linking mechanism correctly determines that Boost.Locale is required, but requires the static runtime linked version, which obviously doesn't exist. Hi, I'm building Quantlib 16.2 and have built Boost 1.59.0 using the NuGet package in VS2013. Of the 19 projects in Quantlib, 18 are built successfully while 1 project, testsuite, fails. I am getting the error that 'boost_unit_test_framework.lib' cannot be opened. The file physically does not exist on my computer, possibly because I am using NuGet in VS2013 to install boost and it's doing the header only thing. Hi all, I'm having issues compiling boost::unordered_map with boost::interprocess. I'm using boost 1.57 and compiler is GCC 4.1.2 . I've tried to ask it on SO few months ago, but got no solution for it and decided to use just map. Now I'm seeking for some performance improvement again, so I will try my luck here. [boost] integrating NaCl support into boost

Hi boost community, how about integrating NaCl support patches into the boost main-line (trunk/master), I am talking about these NaCl ports patches: https://chromium.googlesource.com/external/naclports/+/master/ports/boost (I actually have a bit more correct patches that allow to compile boost 1.59 for NaCl platforms, while Google patches are still for 1.55). I would be grateful to hear suggestion about how to process with it, e.g. which actions should I take to make it really happen. I personally suppose making boost to officially support more platforms will make boost more popular and allow more developers to use it and port their applications to other platforms. bimap broken in 1.59 on mac?

I have been using boost::bimap for quite some time, and in 1.59 I am seeing numerous compiler errors that terminate with: BIMAP_STATIC_ERROR__const_local_iterator_type_by_FAILURE I have no idea what is causing this, and a google search doesn't turn up anything either. Has anyone seen this? boost graph adjacency_list delete nodes and vertices

Dear list, I am using boost graph with vecS both as edge-list and vertex-list and I need to delete some nodes. In my case nodes have no incoming or outgoing edges, but I'd like to understand how to do it in general. In vectors normally you simply swap the unwanted element with the last one and pop back. This way only the last element index is changed, all others are fine. The generalization of this idea is the base of the "remove erase idiom". It possible to apply it to adjacency_list (vecS,vecS)? I need this because I keep vertex index elsewhere, so I'd like to be able to update only the last one and not all of them. >From the implementation I get that is possible to swap the vertex you want to delete with the "last" one and delete it. By last one I mean the one returned by *(--vertices(g).second) It is really safe? And how to delete edges, it is possible? Yours faithfully, Paolo

TLS/Non-TLS mismatch in ASIO when using LTO

[integer] what is the fastest integer type which can hold an 8 bit number?

Reading the documentation at http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_59_0/libs/integer/doc/html/boost_integer/in… I invoke the following using temp_integer = typename boost::int_t<8>::fast; With the idea of getting the fastest integer type which will hold an 8 bit signed number. But I get temp_integer equal to a char type. This surprises me. I don't believe that the fastest integer type which can hold an 8 bit signed integer is a char. I looked into the boost/integer.hpp and I can't really figure it out. It doesn't seem to to have any processor specific code in it - which I would think would be necessary to implement the function. It was reviewed in January 2014; the verdict at that time was "not in its present form." Since then Oliver has substantially improved documentation, performance, library customization and the underlying implementation, and is bringing the library back for mini-review. Linker error with boost::serialization

Using Debian Jessie (64bit) I've just built Boost 1.56 from source. Compilation problem with fedora 22

Hello, I recently installed Fedora 22 and I decided to use boost 1.59.0. I also have a little server with Centos 7 on it. On both system, I installed boost 1.58.0. I also installed the Intel cluster studio XE 2016 on each machine. I can compile (and run) with no problem my code on the Centos 7 but I can not compile it under fedora 22. Boost.Test - problems overriding main

I want to provide my own main function while using Boost.Test. So I have included the following macros: #define BOOST_TEST_ALTERNATIVE_INIT_API #define BOOST_TEST_NO_MAIN In my main function I have a call to: ::boost::unit_test::unit_test_main(&registering_all_tests, argc, argv) but this gives me the following error when build on OS X using Xcode 6: Undefined symbols for architecture x86_64: "boost::unit_test::unit_test_main(bool (*)(), int, char**)", referenced from: _main in main.o I found out that including the following file: #include <boost/test/included/unit_test.hpp> resolves this problem but I'm confused about the implications. The description of this file states that it uses the included (vs. linked) version of Unit Test Framework. The Boost getting started guide states that: > Boost.Test can be used in “header-only” or “separately compiled” mode,> although **separate compilation is recommended for serious use**. I have built the library separately. The Boost doc also states: > Including the UTF directly into your test module> > If you prefer to avoid the standalone library compilation you can> either include all files that constitute the static library in your> test module's makefile or include them as a part of a test module's> source file. [test] upgrading from 1.58 to 1.59

Hello, Prior to boost 1.59 I had code using the floating point comparisons of Boost.Test as in if( boost::test_tools::check_is_close( v1, v2, boost::test_tools::percent_tolerance( tolerance ) ) ) ... if( boost::test_tools::check_is_close( v1, v2, boost::test_tools:: Snippet fraction_tolerance( tolerance ) ) ) ... As these seem to have been replaced/generalized starting with boost 1.59 I need to upgrade my code. Surely this involves using boost::test_tools::tolerance() but I'm getting a bit lost in the internals of Boost.Test. Could someone shed some light ? Thanks ! MAT.

Hello, I am having trouble when linking Boost::Program_Options statically on Linux ARM 32-bit: it spits an error about a duplicate symbol for a guard-variable. It works fine on Linux ARM 32-bit (same compiler) if using shared libraries, and also on Linux x86-64 both with static and shared libraries.
