Hello I want to compile boost on my pc and get it's libs without Boost version number or the name and version number of the compiler like "libboost_date_time.lib" I used : b2 --without-mpi --build-type=minimal --layout=system and b2 --layout=system but none of them worked for me how can I get Those libs

SEGV in argv_traverser::handle_mismatch() on arg with leading space

argv_traverser::handle_mismatch() appears to barf when parsing argv[1] with leading (or only) spaces. PropertyTree-JSON parser incompatible with Boost.ASIO?

Hello folks, as this is my first post on this list, I am apologizing for mistakes I maybe made in advance. Anyway, to my question: For my current project I need both, Boost.PropertyTree (and it's JSON parser), as well as Boost.ASIO. When including both headers, it gives me an error at boost/asio/detail/socket_types.hpp(24), saying that WinSock.h has already been included. However, if I comment out the include for json_parser.hpp, it does not give any compiler errors (except the non-exisiting function read_json). I am working under Visual Studio 2013 Professional on Windows Server 2012 R2, boost 1.55. Using Program Options styles to format options_description output

One of the things I want to do when I use Program Options is to print the help according to the styles I am enforcing. For example, on Windows if I use allows_slash_for_short, it will make sense for me to reflect that when I print the actual help string. I can't find a way to do this. Any pointers? Thanks, Arindam

Last weekend for review of the Convert library

This is the last weekend of the the review of the Convert library, which started Monday May 12 and goes through Sunday May 25. For those who have been to C++ Now please take a look at the library and review it. I am looking for at least a half dozen reviews before I can decide, based on the reviews, whether or not the library should be accepted into Boost. The Convert library builds on the boost::lexical_cast original design and experience and takes those conversion/transformation-related ideas further. * to be applicable to a wider range of conversion-related use-cases, * to provide a more flexible, extendible and configurable type-conversion framework. The Convert library can be cloned from GitHub at https://github.com/yet-another-user/boost.convert. The library follows the modular-boost format. Just clone it to modular-boost/libs in the 'convert' subdirectory and run 'b2 headers' in order to create a link to its header file directory in the modular-boost/boost subdirectory. The library comes with documentation in its top-level index.html or doc/html/index.html file. You can also view the documentation online at http://yet-another-user.github.io/boost.convert/doc/html/index.html. The library is by Vladimir Batov and is a second reiteration with a greater focus of his library that was reviewed in the past. I am Edward Diener and I am again serving as the review manager of the library. If you have used lexical_cast or, like many C++ programmers, have used stringstream to do string-to-type, type-to-string conversions please look at this library. We need reviews of whatever point of view before a library can even be considered a Boost library. Comments, questions, and reviews will all be welcome for the library. Please try to sum up your review by answering these questions: What is your evaluation of the design? What is your evaluation of the implementation? What is your evaluation of the documentation? What is your evaluation of the potential usefulness of the library? Did you try to use the library? With what compiler? Did you have any problems? How much effort did you put into your evaluation? A glance? A quick reading? In-depth study? Are you knowledgeable about the problem domain? And finally: Do you think the library should be accepted as a Boost library? Robert – Thanks for your comments! 1) It was a typo – I got input archives and output archives backwards when describing the problem in my original email. I was actually using the as you describe. 2) There were several inline constructors in some derived classes not used by serialization. I removed them. 3) The archives were being closed but not the streams. Now both output archive and output stream are closed before the input stream and archive are created. 4) I also set up all the serialization code using NVPs so I could debug using XML archives based on a comment I saw in another post of yours from 6/15/10. That really makes it a lot easier to understand what’s happening! 5) I rebuilt Boost with the ODR code enabled. Results: I saw no ODR problems with the compile (by the time I did a full compile, I’d done steps 1-4). I saw none of the link warnings when rebuilding the DLL. I’m having much better success with the DLL now. It works almost completely. I’m now only having an RTTI issue that I’m working to resolve. I may post separately about that if my next few tests don’t identify the problem. PS –I’ve gotten pretty familiar with some parts the serialization code as I’ve stepped through it with the debugger. Very cool! It’s a real education on template meta-programming. Thanks for making this available and for doing such a great job with it both in terms of functionality and the artistry of the implementation. --- Steve H. [Asio] deadline_timer doesn't fire in some cases

We have a client application that uses deadline_timers in order to implement timeouts for read and write operations on a socket. We have an io_service thread that runs boost::asio::io_service::run. The _ioService is used by resolver, by read, write, connect timers (implemented using deadline_timer) and also by tcp::socket. On socket we are using only synchronous operations like: connect, read_some, write_some. The socket is blocking. Also for resolver we are using the synchronous operation resolve. Our problem is that although read timer is set to 100 milliseconds, it doesn't fire up and the application is blocked in read_some function for like 15 minutes. In onReadTimeout callback we are closing the socket. I can reproduce this behavior every time by changing the connection settings on the virtual machine that host the server to a dummy interface. Currently I sow this behavior in logs and i did a core dump of the client process using gcore and sow the stack trace on all threads. I added also the stack trace. The thread that is blocked for 15 minutes is thread 18. This thread contain in stack trace boost::asio::io_service::run. Also thread 9 and thread 10 contains boost::asio::io_service::run. Thread 18 calls _readTimer.expires_from_now(boost::posix_time::milliseconds(_readTimeout), ec); _readTimer.async_wait(boost::bind(&BlockingTcpClient::onReadTimeout, this, boost::asio::placeholders::error)); with readTimeout set to 100 and then _pSocket->write_some. In BlockingTcpClient::onReadTimeout we are closing the socket. So read_some should be blocked for maximum 100 miliseconds. Maybe the problem is that the read timer uses the same io_service that currently is blocked in read_some. Can anyone help us to investigate or fix this issue? If this is a known limitation can anyone tell us why this behavior happen? Thank you!

[RegEx] Are there any tools to test a regular expression will work

Specifically Boost "Perl Regular Expression Syntax" option (with or without Unicode enhancements) I am working with software a product that is using Boost regex engine but I need a way to test individual regex expressions before committing them in to it. But I have found there are operstors that I sometimes need to use that do not exist in any on-line or client-side regex tester/editor or IDE that I have tried. They all seem to be based on Java or .Net based regex engines and I can not find any that uses the Boost engine. Tried RegExPal, RegEx.Powertoy, NotePad++, Padre etc. I don't mind whether it is online, Windows based, Linux based (so long as easy to install) or part of a larger application (so long as not massive). I just want something that will take a few seconds to tell if a regular expression will match a particular text.
