[serialization] map of shared_ptr

Hi folks, I stumbled over a strange behavior in the serialization. Basically I want to write multiple entries into the same archive. The data is a map of an index and some shared_ptr for the values. Writing/reading are working but produce wrong results with the provided minimal example. I'm using boost 1.49 under Visual Studio 2010 64bit. I've also tried the code without the use of shared_ptr and without a map. Both version are working fine. The combination however fails. Hi, this is a basic question (I am sorry). I am try to undestand the calc2_ast.cpp example at http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_41_0/libs/spirit/example/qi/calc2_ast.cpp I think the instruction expression_ast() : expr(nil()){} is an inheritance. Where can I find the definition of expr()? [Program_Options] Why multiple_occurrences::get_option_name() and validation_error::what() disappear since 1.50 version?

Hello everyone, I make a library using Boost Program Options (version 1.44). I have some "Undefined symbols" (for multiple_occurrences::get_option_name() and validation_error::what()) when I try to use my library with Boost version 1.5x. Valgrind errors with ASIO

Hi, I have build a job queue with a combination io_service, io_service::work, packaged_task and a thread group. I am seeing randomly either segfaults or strange asserts in pthread or even malloc, which suggest to me memory is being corrupted somehow. The problem is it does not show in debug mode running under valgrind, but if I run valgrind on the non debug version I get valgrind errors in pthreads called from asio. I try to downgrade my boost lib from 1.54 to 1.52, but still the same. I am completely stuck on this, does anyone have some hints to possible causes ? I can not show the complete source since it's not possible to isolate, but here's the types I have : std::vector<boost::shared_ptr<ExceptionTransfer> > io_error_; [Spirit/qi] parsing order, exact matches

Dear Boost-User list, I have modified the calc6-example from the Spirit docs, so that it uses double variables rather than integers. I have then added a number of mathematical functions. The rule for the unary functions (reduced to just sin and sinh here for readability) is: unary_function_rule_ = (string_("sin") > '(' > expression_rule_ > ')') | (string_("sinh") > '(' > expression_rule_ > ')') ; I would have expected the "sin" part of the rule to trigger only when there is a "sin" string, which is immediately followed by a '('. This works o.k. when the function in question really contains a sin(). However, when I pass a "sinh()", I get an error message that it failed parsing a "h(", so the "sin" part of the message has triggered. Changing the order of sinh and sin in the rule cures the problem. Still I would like to understand how I can make the sin-part of the rule only trigger for expressions like "sin(3.14)", but not for e.g. "sinh(2)". Thanks and best regards, Beet

Hi, I want to use the boolean/CSG operations of the Geometry library of Boost, but I need the resultant polygons to be triangles (it's 3D data, by the way). Is there a way to achieve this with Boost? [Iostreams] Zlib compression sometimes creates corrupt data on OSX

Hello, I’m having the following problem with my program: If I save data on OSX using a boost::iostreams::filtering_ostream with a boost::iostreams::zlib_compressor() the resulting file is sometimes corrupted. "equal" : "not equal") << std::endl; } } This piece of code reads a file that is specified as command line argument, compresses and saves it to “test.dat”, reloads and decompresses it and then compares the result with the content of the original file. Using it with two files linked below leads to the following output: $ ./bugtest example1_working.txt equal $ ./bugtest example1_not_working.txt not equal i.e. in the second case the compression creates corrupt data. I verified that the problem is in the compression part by trying to decompress test.dat on Linux using zlib-flate which gives an error (incorrect data check). If I compress the file manually on Linux using zlib-flate and decompress it on OSX with code similar to the above, the input file is reproduced correctly. The two files used above are save files of my software. I compiled the above code in the following way: c++ -stdlib=libc++ -std=c++11 test.cpp -I /Users/michael/projects/boost-svn-build/include/ -c c++ -stdlib=libc++ -std=c++11 -o test test.o /Users/michael/projects/boost-svn-build/lib/libboost_iostreams.a -lz The boost libraries were built from svn as follows: ./bootstrap.sh --prefix=../boost-svn-build --with-libraries=iostreams --with-toolset=clang ./b2 -j6 link=static toolset=clang cxxflags="-std=c++11 -stdlib=libc++" linkflags="-stdlib=libc++" install Clang version is: “Apple LLVM version 4.2 (clang-425.0.28) (based on LLVM 3.2svn)” I am running OS X 10.8.2. The same files are compressed correctly with the above code on Linux, compiled with GCC 4.6.3. I think this problem might be a bug in boost or maybe also in the llvm libraries (c.f. https://svn.boost.org/trac/boost/ticket/8150 , which looks like a similar problem). Compiling boost with zlib 1.2.8 instead of using zlib 1.2.5, which is shipped with OSX, leads to the same problem. Both Boost 1.54.0 and the svn version are affected. What should be the return type for a function that returns an adapted range? E.g. template<class Range> xxx getIndirected( const Range& r ) { return r | boost::adaptors::indirected; } The use case being, providing a API with these little useful helpers without forcing the user to know about Boost.Range at all.
