Dear all, Here follows the result of the result of Erwann Rogard's update to Boost.Assign: **************************** The update is not accepted **************************** This is not because the new functioanlity/interface was not seen as an improvement, but because Erwann has chosen to implement a full replacement (or Assign v2) based on the feedback he got during the review. The feedback meant that the new "update" would be much larger than what was present in the mini-review, and the new library should therefore be subject of its own full review. I would like to thank Erwann for his hard work so far, and hope he submits a Boost.Assign v2 in the near future. Tokenizing UTF-8

I was looking around to see if Boost has support for tokenizing UTF-8 strings. I don't see any mention of UTF-8 or Unicode in the Boost.Tokenizer documentation. If not Boost.Tokenizer . any other ideas ? I am also looking into ICU. Thanks. - Roshan

[fusion][mpl] Generating a fusion sequence type from an MPL sequence

Hi all, I am unexpectedly stuck looking for some functionality which I assumed would be present. Given an MPL sequence, I want to generate the type of a corresponding fusion sequence, which I can then use to store things: mpl::vector<int, string> mpl_vec; typedef some_metafunction<mpl_vec>::type fusion_vec; // equivalent to fusion::vector<int, string> fusion_vec vec(5, "foo"); Does some_metafunction exist? I'm not sure if I'm just not seeing it (or perhaps thinking wrongly about the problem), or if it really is not present. [serialization] linker error with static build of serialization on Mingw gcc 4.4.0

Hi fellow users, I build boost 1.43 on windows, using mingw with gcc 4.4.0: Using built-in specs. How to improve property_tree performance

Hi, I have a fairly easy record structure which I am writing to xml using property_tree. I am trying to figure out how to do it better, since the current time spend building the tree is too high. I do the following : wiptree pt; wiptree &tvars = pt.add(L"some.recordname",L""); for( int i = 0; i < somenumber /*say 60K*/; ++i ) { wiptree &curtree = tvars.add(L"someitem",L""); curtree.add(L"<xmlattr>.name",L"some_attribute"); ... } To me this seems reasonable. Is there a faster way to do this ? Since I just want to write it out and it's quite simple, I could avoid using property_tree and write the xml file manually. But since I read it in later with property_tree, then for maintainability I would like to read and write with the same method. Thanks Bo

I eventually managed to get everything to work nicely Just one essential bit that seems to be missing in the docuemntation...at least I missed it :-) **** Use the ***DLL version*** of boost serialization (#define BOOST_ALL_DYN_LINK or BOOST_SERIALIZATION_DYN_LINK in your build) Otherwise, afaict, every DLL gets a separate static extended type-info singleton container. **** And, to anwer my own question, the documentation does say explicitly that non-rtti and rtti implementations of extended type-info can coexist. Hopefully, this will help other newbies!
