Ease of use vs. stability

Hi there, I am using a multitude of different Boost libraries in my code. Since that code is growing quickly, I am increasingly running into bugs which I (sometimes) consider to be on Boost's side. Allowing only selected Boost versions which are known to run fine with my code would allow me to keep that code simpler and thus less error-prone. As my main platform is Linux, however, which usually comes with a given version of Boost (currently often 1.39), my users would be forced to compile Boost themselves, which will mean that they are less likely to start using my code. If I generally allow all Boost versions above a given version, I have to work around known bugs in certain Boost versions, at the expense of code simplicity and thus stability. Hi, I'm pleased to announce the new version of the Boost.Chrono library. The implementaton is quite stable; the new interface could suffer of some modifications, renaming, ... as far as you submit some proposals. I would request a formal review soon and I will need a review manager. I know that review managers are hard to find, so if you are interested in the library, please the Review Wizards. [program_options] linking error with example

Hi, I have problems starting out with the program_options library. Looking at the tutorial, I wanted to try out the first example metioned, first.cpp (which is located in boost_1_41_0/libs/program_options/example). But there seems to be some linking error. Hi, some supplementary information: The problem happens also for gcc-3.4.6 - which is the final version of gcc-3.x.x series. fusion struct adapt macro, construct the struct from a fusion vector

Hello, I have a struct params { ... }; and I have adapted it as a fusion sequence. However I can't construct a params from a boost::fusion::vector<> with the same types. const params p( v ); // v is a fusion::vector with the same type const params p = v; // both failed to compile Do I need to actually write a specific ctor for params? Will it change the result of the adapt macro? Can I iterate with an algorithm over the vector at runtime to assign to p from v? with fusion::for_each() I couldn't write the functor that would let me assign to p. Regards,

[boost.asio] Flush serial port buffers?

Hi everyone My program currently writes some characters to a device connected over the serial interface and subsequently changes the baud rate, followed by sending some more characters. The problem is that the first transfer does not seem to complete before the baud rate switch and thus is sent with the new baud rate, which is not supposed to happen. What I am looking for is something like a flush() before changing the baud rate. Using: boost::asio::write(*port, buffer(buf, size), transfer_all()); does not seem to work. Any suggestions? Boost MultiArray and Boost uBLAS - Designed to be used together?

Hi all, Were Boost MultiArray and Boost uBLAS designed to be used together? I.e. can I apply linear algebra operations to Boost MultiArrays and get Boost MultiArrays back? Hello, i posted a problem against boost::serialization. (http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lib.boost.user/54935). But now i could track it down to boost::spirit. I have extracted boost::serialization stuff , which is dealing with boost spirit, in a mini demo program (see attached tar file). Dear boost users, I have developed a library of interval containers called Interval Template Library (ITL). The library, initially developed in an software industrial context, was proposed at the boost developer's list in May 2008, refined according to boost standards, presented at boostcon09 and submitted for a formal review in September 2009. Hartmut Kaiser is now supporting the ITL as review manager. I have uploaded a new release of the core library of interval containers (itl), extensions (itl_xt) and a test tool (validate) for law based automated testings as itl_plus_3_2_1 at the itl's project site at sourceforge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/itl/ Interval_sets and interval_maps of the ITL proved to be very useful in many fields the most important of which is the date and time problem domain. * Interval_sets and interval_maps can be used like the sets or maps of elements. Yet they are much more space and time efficient when the elements occur in contiguous chunks. * Interval containers allow for intersection with interval_sets to work with segmentation. For instance you might want to intersect an interval container with a grid of months and then iterate over those months. * The ITL comes with a universal mechanism of aggregation, that allows to combine associated values in meaningful ways when intervals overlap on insertion. Aggregation results that are difficult to obtain by handwritten algorithms can be computed in an abstract and simple way. * itl::interval_bitset is a self compressing class to represent very large bitsets.
