Mac OSX - gcc crash

Hello, My question is not focused, but maybe someone had similar experience and could share his conslucions. I'm porting to iPhone (SDK 3.1.2, XCode3.2.1) rather big static library that uses boost very extensively. It compiles and works well under the simulator both in debug and in release modes. But when I try to compile it for the device, gcc4.2 crashes ("exists with code 1"). I found-out that if I do not generate debug symbols, the compilation succeeds. However, then I can't debug the application on iPhone - it doesn't stop on breakpoints and I can't step through the code (if the application would work on the device like it works on simulator, debugging wouldn't be an issue, but it doens't work for some reason). Again, I even don't know *where* the compiler crashes and whether it's related to boost headers or not, but any idea/experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

serialization library leaks memory in its global object

Dear all, we were transferring to Boost 1.41 but came across some serious issues in Boost.Serialization. The first is already adressed in a previous post, but now the M$ crt reports a memory leak when using Boost.Serialization in combination of pointers. I think it is located in 'basic_iarchive_impl::load_pointer' where an object is allocated and added to a global object ('object_id_vector') but never released. I know that we might end up here in an argument about the defintion of a memory leak, but the fact remains that the crt just reports it on program closure and until now we never had any reports of that type. If we have to think about every report dumped by the crt, it's just unacceptable. It's like a broken window syndrome; in the end u can not distinguish between false and correct reports. "The thing is that you are using the left view of the bimap, and not the one you have customized. Try using the right view map, it should work as you expect." I didn't understand why switching views would work, and it didn't do what I wanted. (I tried it anyway.) If I use the right view, then I'm looking up the multiset ints with a unique short, right? I want to go the other way- I want to look up a sorted range of unique shorts from the right side with a non-unique int from the left side. I might have misunderstood you, but I don't see how using the right view works there. asio to read device files

Hi, In Windows we can open and read storage meidias by using the call CreateFile() and ReadFile() respecively. The device name is passed as a string to the CreateFile() call, as an example "PhysicalDrive1". Create file returns a handle of type "HANDLE". can I use this handle in asio in order to read a device file? MultiArray and point-wise product

Hello list, I'm trying to calculate point-wise product from a MultiArray (basically the adjacency list from the boost graph). Can anybody suggest how the point-wise product can be calculated in boost in the most efficient way (of course i can implement the function myself with a nested for())? test errors due to possible boost config issue

I've just got back to configuring\building boost for our compiler again. In one of the tests I'm running into a compiler error, perhaps I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what's going wrong.
