How to override the init() in the xml serialization library..

Hi, I have a need to be able to specify my own init routine for the xml serialization. I tried deriving a new archive from xml_oarchive_impl and tried to have a init() function there but that does not get invoked. I am using boost serialization library ver 1.32. The xml that is generated by the library is malformed. It generates the following line without corresponding end tag <boost_serialization signature="serialization::archive" version="3"> There is no </boost_serialization> in the o/p xml. Also my requiremet is that I do not generate this tag. Thanks, Sangeeta

Autolink woes with Boost.Python, Visual C++ 2005

Hello, I'm trying to statically link to Boost.Python from the Boost-consulting binary distribution. No matter what I try I'm either getting the furiously annoying error message "mixing dll with a static runtime is a bad idea", or in the other situations I'm being told that boost_python-vc80-mt-1_35.lib can't be found, which is not what I want to link with in the first place hence I didn't install DLL versions of boost. All I want to do is statically link to boost.python. Is there some voodoo I could perform? If I define BOOST_PYTHON_NO_LIB and try to link with libboost_python_vc80-mt(-s)-1_35.lib I get unresolved externals for calls using __declspec(dllimport). Thanks, Chip

Hello, Is it possible to use the type_traits library to detect if a template type is a template specialization from a specific type. In my case I want to detect the dependency of the endian class from the vault. e.g. something like that: template<typename myType> is_the_type(endian, myType) best regards Hansjörg

Hi all, Any tools that writes the build jam files automatically for a big project? If there is any good IDE that takes care of all these issues then it is also welcome. Considering the fact, that the project that I am going to embark upon will involve a lot of code and dependencies, I really don't want to get bogged down and stuck in just writing the correct makefiles. So, It would be great if I can use some tool that generates these jamfiles automatically for me. I am also searching for some good IDE for developing C++ programs something like we have Eclipse for Java. Thanks in advance! Awaiting a reply.

[string-algo] #include <join.hpp> missing in string.hpp (1.35.0)?

The line #include <boost/algorithm/string/join.hpp> is missing in boost\algorithm\string.hpp in 1.35.0. It was there in 1.34.1 so I think it should also be in 1.35 (and 1.36). Best regards, Wolfgang

Visual C++ 2008- from system::String to boost::any ?

Excuse me, I' m reading a DataGridView with VisualC++2008 with nested loops.... ..... Object^ val=dataGridView1[x,y]->Value; //Object is a Visual class ..... I convert every value in a System::String variable: String^ str=val->ToString(); Then I'have to insert this data in a container (for example) this: vector<boost::any>* vec=new vector<boost::any>(n) ; //0<=x<n (*vec)[x]=str; //ERROR! (*vec)[x]=*str; //ERROR! Is there another method to transfer a value from a dataGridView to an STL container? Now i wrote only a vector to explain simply but in fact i will use a table of this type vector<vector<boost:.any>*>. Excuse me for my bad english. what can you get from boost::thread?

Hi all, i've written a small code for estimating the mean from a series of random numbers. The random numbers are generated with and without boost::thread. The simulation shows me that with boost::thread you only get a small performance.
