Hi I tried to compile this example: typedef boost::adjacency_list <boost::listS,boost::listS,boost::undirectedS,vertex_descriptor > Graph; typedef boost::graph_traits<Graph>::vertex_descriptor v_des; typedef boost::graph_traits<Graph>::vertex_iterator v_iter; typedef boost::graph_traits<Graph>::edge_descriptor e_des; typedef boost::graph_traits<Graph>::edge_iterator e_iter; Graph newg; ......// insert data in newg v_iter vit, ve; int index = 0; for(boost::tie(vit,ve)=boost::vertices(newg); vit!=ve; ++vit ){ v_des vd = *vit; vd->id()= index++; } but the reply is: "void*" is not a pointer-to-object type at the last line. Hi, I am new to C++ development and using boost regex library. I have downloaded 1_34_1 version. I have built regex library and it created boost_regex-vc80-mt-*1_34*.lib & dll files for me. But when I included headers and compiled my application but its giving me the following linker error. - *Error 1 fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file 'boost_regex-vc80-mt-gd-1_34_1.lib' ExpEval * * *so I defined *BOOST_REGEX_NO_LIB *and ran the application this time I got the following error - *This application has failed to start because MSVCP80.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.* Is any one faced the similar problem ? Please help me if you know whats wrong here. Appreciate your help in advance. thanks Srinivas

date_time with pre and post 2007 US time zones

Greetings! I would like to use boost::date_time to convert between U.S. time zones and GMT, with dates spanning the year-2007 change of rules. There is a "custom time zone", but that takes a Posix string which, if I understand correctly, can't handle both pre- and post-2007 simultaneously. I did see a dst_calc_engine, but there doesn't seem to be a way to connect that to a dst_day_calc_rule, at least not a method standardized in the library. Am I missing something? I guess I could just derive from dst_day_class_rule and override the start_rule_as_string() and stop_rule_as_string() to be something "random"? Thank you in advance. The Boost libraries really are wonderful. (Although I guess us users tend to only write when we hit a wall :-)). Thanks! -Mike

Boost.Serialization [For MPI] Crashes

Hi all, I have been using the serialization library since it is the way to go for communicating whole classes in Boost.MPI. Previously, I didn't have any problems. However, I now experience a strange problem. I have successfully ran all my code in SDSC's Teragrid cluster (A cluster of Itanium processors, running intel-linux), but when I tried to do the same thing in NCSA's cluster (which is similarly composed of Itaniums with same OS) I just can't build serialization library successfully. It says: intel-linux.link.dll bin.v2/libs/serialization/build/intel-linux/release/libboost_serialization-il-1_35.so.1.35.0 OBJREAD Error: Could not create mapping for "bin.v2/libs/serialization/build/intel-linux/release/basic_oarchive.o". icpc: error: problem during multi-file optimization compilation (code 1) Both clusters use the same kernel (2.4.21), same compiler suite (icc 9.1), same architecture, same mpixx (/usr/local/apps/mpich-gm-1.2.6..14b-intel-r2/bin/mpicxx). So, that was a little frustrating. But the fact is that, it creates the multithreaded library (libboost_serialization-il-mt-1_35) even after the error. I gave it a try. Compilation is flawless, but during runtime, main() is even not called [it seg faults immediately].When I debug it, I get the following backtrace: This GDB was configured as "ia64-suse-linux"... Unresolved symbol in boost::filesystem lib with MS VC++ 2005 Pro

Hi all, I’m using boost version 1.34.1 (downloaded from http://www.boost-consulting.com/) with Visual C++ 2005 Professional. Everything worked fine (even boost::filesystem) until I started using boost::filesystem::directory_iterator. I’m trying to compile the example below and get a unresolved symbol: "unsigned int boost::filesystem::detail::not_found_error". *) Of course, I’m linking against the boost filesystem library (if I don’t I get even more unresolved symbols). *) I do define BOOST_ALL_NO_LIB but if I don’t I still get the unresolved symbol. *) Under Linux the same example compiles, links and runs fine! *) I checked and the symbol exists in the library. *) I’m using the correct runtime *) If I comment out the boost::filesystem::directory_iterator line (so only boost::filesystem::exists()) then the example compiles, links, and runs fine! Can anybody point me in the right direction? Is this a problem with my Visual Studio setup? Or is this a problem in the boost consulting stuff?
