[BGL] Mapping a source Graph to a target Graph

Hello BGL developers, I'm looking for an algorithm that can map a source graph to a target graph. The special requirement is that the graphs have a set of vertices which are differentiated by type(colour if you like). Thus 'red' source vertices should only map to 'red' target vertices, etc. The mapping should be 1-to-1 (a 'blue' target vertex can accept one 'blue' source vertex). I assume the target graph has enough vertices of each type(colour) to map all vertices of the source graph. The target graph represents a topology, while the source graph is the data-graph to map onto that topology. I've briefly looked at the 'layout' specific algorithms provided by BGL. I thought the 'gursoy_atun_layout'could be used, but then I realised it was not meeting the requirements. The main thing that's missing is the way to differentiate vertices by type. Also I don't understand why the 'topology' is not a BGL graph as well. To put it in other words, the layout algorithms in BGL operate on a homogeneous environment. The source vertices can freely occupy any 'point' or 'position' on the target medium. I'm looking for an algorithm that operates on a heterogeneous environment, where the target 'slots' can only accept source vertices of a given type. Is there any current BGL algorithm that fits that description, or can be easily modified to cover this case? using boost in x64 app

How to build only these binaries?

I want to only build both debug and release statically linked binaries. What are the build options to build just these on windows, linux and mac? To clarify, binaries which would link directly inside my executable (the libs that won't need any dll or so). On windows I am using /MT in my projects, so the libs should also statically link to msvc runtime. When using --build-type=complete it generates 5GB of binaries, which for 32-bit and 64-bit on windows, mac and linux together ends up taking a lot more space than I can afford.

boost::serialization forcing linker to create a lib?

Hello folks I am using boost 1.37 off the CVS with the visual studio 2008 compiler. As soon as I instantiate an archive (of boost::serialization), the linker implicitly creates a lib and a exp file for my exe. Is that wanted behavior? Why? //text_iarchive archive(file); <- When this line is not commented, the linker creates the two files. This is the linker output: 'Creating library project_manager.lib and object project_manager.exp' Thank you

[Boost-user] bjam and env var

Hi everybody I'm creating python modules with boost, and I'm using bjam to compile them (because, as written in the doc, it is the easiest way to compile python module created with boost.python). Actually, my jam script is specific to my directory structure. If I want to change my directory structure, or shared my project with someone who haven't the same directory structure (which is always the case), my jam files need to be changed. My jam files are at the end of this post. I tried to use environment variables without success. If I create a BOOST_ROOT env var, I can't use it in my JamRoot file, because $(BOOST_DIR) is always empty. I also tried to create a var in my user-config.jam, but the var isn't visible in my JamRoot file. So, here are my questions : 1 - Is there a good way to do this ? 2 - I didn't find exactly what is boost-build.jam for, have you an explanation ? Serialization: delayed loading of vertexes of graph/tree

Sorry for the n00b question, but I'm totally new to the use of sth. like boost::serialization. I always wrote all this stuff 'by hand' before. :) I have a tree (AABB tree, to be precise -- no cycles and no joins) that I have serialized (I wrote this one 'by hand', i.e. I don't use the boost graph library). This works great if I need to save and/or load the entire tree at once. But actually, when I load it, I want to be able to explicitly trigger loading of the two sub-vertexes of each vertex in the tree. I.e. my serialization code for a vertex of the tree currently looks like this: template< typename _archive > void serialze( typename _archive& ar, const unsigned version ) { ... // data ar & _data; // sub-vertexes aka children ar & _child[ 0 ]; ar & _child[ 1 ]; } Now what I imagine is that I split this into save() and load(). My save() would look exactly like the above serialize(), but my load() would also need to be split into two parts, one that is invoked automatically, when I load the object via operator >> and the other one, which I call explicitly later. template< typename _archive > void load( typename _archive& ar, const unsigned version ) { ... // data ar & _data; } template< typename _archive > void loadChildren( typename _archive& ar, const unsigned version ) // sub-vertexes aka children ar & _child[ 0 ]; ar & _child[ 1 ]; } I have no idea if this is the right approach and if so, if I can just call loadChildren() with the resp. archive? I imagine not, since I can not guarantee that the vertexes in the tree will be visited in the same order as they were during invocation of save(). Quite to the contrary, it is highly unlikely that they will ever be visited in that order. What I can guarantee though is that each cell's parent has been visited by the time I need to load it. I.e. the tree is always restored from the root up, but I can't guarantee which path along the edges the program will walk when doing so. So am I back to writing this all 'by hand' in this case or is there some mechanisms in boost::serialization that I could exploit here? Cheers, Moritz
