Hello , I have used bjam (cmd: bjam test) for boost (1.36.0) test library. It has generated some ".lib" files for static binding to my target project. Now can someone explain to me (step by step please ) how to use these ".lib" files in msvc 2008 ? By the way this is the name of one of them: libboost_unit_test_framework-vc90-mt-gd-1_36.lib ( ok this is a naive question but I could not find how on boost documentation either on msdn I just found how to use a ".lib" file in another project in the same solution but apparently this is not the case because of pre-built library. ) Thanks afore :) .

mpl compiler performance

Hello, I am a novice user of mpl and I am running into slow compile times with intel c++. I have some 5 class templates that are each instantiated some 20 times or so. (2mns or so per translation unit). I will reread Appendix C of Abrahams and Gurtovoy's "C++ Template metaprogramming". Is there any how-to or guide that describes idioms to avoid that I can read before I fire off specific questions to the list? Regards,

But to do this the following tools have to be tested on a regular basis like the libraries are: a) boostbook -> pdf b) boostbook->windows html help c) boostbook->html d) quickbooks->boostbook so there would be a couple of "new" tool/library directories ../tools boostbook build Jamfile.v2 doc boost book documentation src ... test quickbooks ... same as above And of course these tests would be part of the normal test matrix. I realize that this sounds like a lot of effort. But then a lot of the above is already in boost somewhere so a large part of the effort would be shuffling a round stuff that's already in there (boost). I believe that reorganizing boost documentation along the above would result in a robust and very popular tool/library. Robert Ramey

How to build Boost 1.36.0 with STLPort 4.6.2 on gcc 3.2.3 for Linux-x86-32 ?

Hello all, I have been struggling with this for more than a day now. I would like to build Boost 1.36.0 with STLPort 4.6.2 on gcc 3.2.3 for Linux-x86-32. I have tried all options as below but none of them work for me. 1) bjam --stagedir=/somepath/install toolset=gcc stdlib=stlport install 2) bjam -sTOOLS="gcc-stlport" -sSTLPORT_PATH="/somepath/STLport-4.6.2/stlport/" -sSTLPORT_VERSION="4.6.2" --prefix=/somepath/boost_1_36_0/install install 3) Added following to "boost/config/user.hpp" #define BOOST_STDLIB_CONFIG "boost/config/stlport.hpp" Then ran ./configure --prefix=/somepath/install install Could somebody please help? [multi_array] Access a view's index_range

How do I access the index_range of an array_view? ie., typedef boost::multi_array<Cell,2 > Grid; Grid grid( boost::extents[9][9]); Grid::array_view<2> view = grid[indices[range(), range()]]; for (Grid::index i = view.?????.start(); i != view.?????.finish(); ++i) {....} where I'm expecting i to take values 0..8 inclusive. working with code::blocks

Dear users, I'm trying to install the boost library in my PC to work with Code::Blocks software, which uses MINGW, and it doesn't seem to be working well. Two configurations were tested, in Windows XP and in Ubuntu (Hard Heron), it doesn't exactly fail to install in Ubuntu, but my #include/boost/?? never finds the headers. Is there something I should be doing that is not in the Getting Started manual? Thanks in advance! Lu

MSVC _SECURE_SCL causes ABI change, ODR violation - mangle library names?

The _SECURE_SCL macro in Visual Studio's (Dinkumware's) STL changes the ABI for standard types, which causes silent ODR violations when Boost static libraries and the main program linking with them don't define this macro the same way. This problem manifests itself as runtime crashes. There's been discussion before (see links at the end) to solve this by using different library names in the build system to distinguish different ABIs. The discussions brought up issues: - _SECURE_SCL implies a performance cost. - _SECURE_SCL might not be conformant with the complexity requirements (no clear conclusion was reached on this). - Should the compiler's default behaviour be Boost's default (i.e. _SECURE_SCL isn't defined)? - The Windows version of the Intel compiler has a bug around partial function template ordering which can be solved by defining _SECURE_SCL to 0. There's already a Trac issue for this: http://svn.boost.org/trac/boost/ticket/2086 Could we reach a consensus on adding this to the library name mangling? Is it too late for 1.37.0? Hi Joaquin, Supposing I have a container having three unique keys, Is there a way I can print data sorted by one of they keys? At the moment I tried a raw dump - it shows fields based on the first key (which is key1).
