program_options linking problem

I've got a linking issue with this lib on Linux. If I don't specify -lboost_program_options, I naturally get several pages of missing symbols. No surprise there. BOOST vs ACE

Hi, I am new to BOOST and to ACE. Pardon me if this question appears stupid for the seasones BOOST/ACE developers/users. From what little I know of the two frameworks, I am noticing many overlapping functionalities (shared memory, streams, threads). Is there some place/someone that can provide me a top level differences and situations that makes one framework more suited than the other. Any help or pointers is greatly appreciated. Formatting and passing variable parameters.

Hi, 1) I have to generate unique id on the basis of file name and line no. For that I am using macros __FILE__ and __LINE__. But __FILE__ is giving full path with the file name and two double quotes at the begining and end(for example, "C:\Project\Test\log.cfg" ). I need to get the unique id in the format as <file name>_<line no>. For example if above is the file description and let line no is 11, then the unique id would be log_11. Please suggest. 2) I have to pass variable no of arguments in the macro. So, I want to use Boost PARAM macro. For example, if LIST is the macro name and I want to call it as LIST(MSG_ID, "good", 5, "failed", "50%", 10); Here parameters are of different types, only the fist parameter is fixed that is string type and always with same variable name. Other parameters will vary. Please help me out in making the macro with variable no. of parameters. Please suggest, Thanks Prasanta

[program_options] allow_unregistered() function for parse_environment

Hi, I would like to parse the environment variables on my system, but also allow unregistered options, similar to <http://www.boost.org/doc/html/program_options/howto.html#id1593176> with the command line parser. Is this possible? I can't seem to get it to work. Thanks, Chris

[multi_index] MSVC 8.0 visualizers for boost::multi_index_container

Hello all, here is another version of MSVC 2005 visualizers for multi_index_container. Thanks to Joaquín for his invaluable support! This version supports sequenced, random_access, ordered and hashed indices. Hashed indices are visualized including the internal bucket structure, indicating empty bucket, single-item bucket and multiple-item bucket (see the example below). As in the previous version, contents of autoexp.dat.txt go into Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\Packages\Debugger\autoexp.dat For your container to be visualized, you need to call the VISUALIZE_MULTI_INDEX_CONTAINER macro at the global namespace level (see the attached example, test2.cpp, and a screenshot of a test2.cpp debugging session, sample_hash.png). I strongly recommend using #define BOOST_MULTI_INDEX_LIMIT_INDEXED_BY_SIZE 5 #define BOOST_MULTI_INDEX_LIMIT_TAG_SIZE 3 #define BOOST_MULTI_INDEX_LIMIT_COMPOSITE_KEY_SIZE 5 in order to reduce symbol name lengths, because otherwise the resulting symbols are too long for the visualizer to work (this typically happens with more than 1 index in a multi_index_container). CGAL and the BGL

The CGAL Open Source Project is pleased to announce the release 3.3 of CGAL, the Computational Geometry Algorithms Library, a robust, easy-to-use, and efficient C++ software library of geometric data structures and algorithms. We don't post the full announcement here, because that would be off-topic, but we want to point out that CGAL comes with partial specializations of the boost::graph_traits for several CGAL data structures and overloaded versions of the global functions for graph traversal. This is done for the 2D triangulations, the 2D arrangements of curves, and the polyhdral surface, that is for data structures with vertices and edges. This allows for example to compute the Euclidean minimum spanning tree of a point set in the plane, by running the BGL minimum spanniung tree algorithms on a CGAL 2D Delaunay triangulation, without converting the latter to a BGL graph.
