I have a XML "catalogue" of CORBA commands, for each cmd referring to CORBA object, method of object & related root data objects (holding event/subscriber variables inside, to be expanded). Then I use boost::serialization save(xml_oarchive,...) to create a *dummy* reference object. I traverse this one with some XML lib. And while traversing, i lookup corresponding positions in my XML formatted configuration file (for data to fill-into the boost::serialization image) and update the value in boost::serialization XML image. Then i use load(xml_oarchive, ...) to create the C/C++ object, populated with my "real" data now. I save all the objects needed for a command in a boost::any container (for invoking a generic CORBA-object/method dispatcher). All this alignment stuff will be shifted to process startup phase. In the end it's better than writing my own XML decoder for each CORBA data object. i use an external XML format for configuration of CORBA (MICO) data and managed to align that with boost::serialization (To not write my own encoder/decoder and to minimize efforts for my module, in case the customer wants more CORBA objects/methods in future. Actually i think it would be a good options to let generate the boost::serialitzation helper file directly by MICO idl compiler.) OK, for this now i have to check, that the (external, non by boost::serialization generated) XML image is _actually_ compliant with C/C++ data structures - especially for dynamic sized data. That is also covered now, the checks do fine. But what i didn't manage is to get the _location_ of error in the XML file - in case there is an error. BGL: filtered_graph and breadth_first_search.

Hello everybody, Often, given a graph G and a subset of it's vertices, there is a need to perform something on an induced graph containing those vertices. I thought about using filtered_graph for that purpose, but for some reason I am unable to use breadth_first_search with a filtered_graph - I get pages of errors from the compiler complaining about something in filtered_graph.hpp, and I don't understand what is the problem. Here is a minimal test program which exemplifies the error. Note that if the line containing a call to a breadth_first_search is commented out, everything compiles properly. [numeric_cast] unwished warnings

Hello! Using numeric_cast I face a warning in MSVC 8.0 Express Edition e:\libraries\boost\include\boost-1_35\boost\numeric\conversion\cast.hpp(41) : warning C4267: 'return' : conversion from 'size_t' to 'Uint32', possible loss of data e:\projects\fundamental_type_factory.cpp(62) : see reference to function template instantiation 'Target boost::numeric_cast<T,msgcat::fundamental_type::numeric_result>(Source)' being compiled with [ Target=Uint32, T=Uint32, Source=fundamental_type::numeric_result ] e:\projects\fundamental_type_factory.cpp(61) : while compiling class template member function 'fundamental_type &`anonymous-namespace'::fundamental_type_impl<T>::operator =(const fundamental_type::numeric_result &)' .... Trying to compile without warnings I am wondering about this warning, since I use the cast to raise an exception at runtime if data are lost. Is it logical? With Kind Regards, Ovanes

[filesystem] About use on Windows

Hi everyone, We've been using Boost since around '98 and have had a great deal of mileage out of the smart pointer libraries (thanks!) and are now starting to try out some of the other libraries. We ran into two problems with the filesystem library, the first we're starting with. 1) The initial problem was that we had always been compiling with the __fastcall convention, but the Boost libraries are built using __cdecl. In the end we switched to __cdecl, but should there not be a #define with the build declaration in the headers? 2) The path class only uses narrow strings. For use with the standard C++ libraries this seems fine, but I think once the new standard goes through there should be wide character variants for the file library. In any case we often use bits of the Win32 API which do take wide characters. I'm just wondering if we should just copy the path class to make a wpath class path and if we do so should we give that copy back to integrate with the normal Boost library? This second is probably of more relevance to us now that we've changed our build options. Kirit

The description of the time_duration::ticks_per_second method reads: "Return the number of ticks in a second. For example, if the duration supports nanoseconds then the returned result will be 1000000." Shouldn't it be 1000000000 or change nano to micro?
