boost::lambda::bind with shared_ptr

Is there any way using BLL's bind to bind to shared_ptrs in a container? e.g.: class MyClass { public: std::string MyFunc() { return str; } private: string str; }; vector<shared_ptr<MyClass> > v; find_if( v.begin(), v.end(), boost::lambda::bind( &MyClass::MyFunc, _1 ) == string( "steve" ) ); In visual studio with the scenario I get errors indicating it can't find MyFunc in the interface for shared_ptr, which you'd expect, except for the fact that boost::bind works with shared poiners. Is it the case that boost::lambda::bind doesn't? If so, that's unfortunate as it rules out using lambda with containers of shared_ptrs in a lot of cases. What am I missing? sklug

Hi, is it true, that boost::interprocess will only built on i386 and especially not on Solaris? We got this, when building boost::interprocess on Solaris #error No atomic operations implemented for this platform, sorry! Thanks, Wolfgang

[fusion2/phoenix2] polymorphic function objects return type

Hi, I have been looking at fusion2 and phoenix2, and I noticed fusion2 suggests using "result" as polymorphic function objects return type, but the phoenix2 documentation suggests "apply" in the examples. Are these two different things, will they be merged, or am I missing something? Thanks, Chris

[boost::transform_iterator] failure with std::vector::const_iterator

Hello! I have an assertion failure using std::vector::const_iterator and boost::transform_iterator. I have a constant seq of constant string pairs delimited by special character (here ':'). My application needs only once to iterate through these pairs and return iterator ranges from the beginning until the colon and after colon until the end. I thought a transform iterator can do the job. I get in the marked position an assertion failure using MSVC 2005 Express Edition. [review][bimap] Bimap accepted

Hi to all, The Bimap library submitted by Matias Capeletto has been accepted into Boost. Thanks to all reviewers and all who contributed to the library in the informal review. Thanks also to Matias for his submission and Joaquin for his mentoring effort on this Google SoC project. We've received 6 reviews (Alisdair, Fernando, Jeff, John, Thorsten and Tony), all of which were positive. If I weren't the review manager, I would also make a positive review of this library, so I'm pretty happy with the results. Now I have a bit of work reviewing all the comments, suggestions and Matias' replies to write an small summary of requested changes and conclusions. The "relation" view, and some basic names ("first"/"second" vs. "left"/"right") were the most active topics. But everyone has considered Bimap useful, well-written, and well documented. Boost.Test on Cygwin

Hi I noticed that Cygwin does not include Boost.Test. Apparently, the maintainers could not build it. Should I try doing that myself, or is this a waste of time? Thanks

[Iterator, MSV8] iterator_adaptor fails with undefined class

Hi there, I'm using Boost 1.33.1. The following code compiles with MSVC7.1, but not with MSVC8: class Path { private: typedef std::vector< Path > PathList; public: class iterator : public boost::iterator_adaptor< iterator, PathList::const_iterator > { ... } MSVC8 gives this error: boost/type_traits/is_pod.hpp(34) : error C2139: 'fledge::Path' : an undefined class is not allowed as an argument to compiler intrinsic type trait '__is_pod' Any recommendations on a solution? Playing with Boost.Test on VC++8, I encountered something odd. This little program: #define BOOST_AUTO_TEST_MAIN #include <boost/test/auto_unit_test.hpp> int factorial(int n) { if(n < 1) return 1; return n * factorial(n-1); } BOOST_AUTO_TEST_CASE( factorial_test ) { BOOST_CHECK( factorial(10000) == 3 ); } Produces this output: ------- begin output ------ Running 1 test case... Press any key to continue . . . -------- end output ------ (this is debug mode, linked against libboost_unit_test_framework-vc80-mt-gd.lib): Changing "10000" to "1000" effects the correct behavior (error report). This might be related to some stack overflow issues, so if you can not reproduce this, you may want to try even greater arguments to "factorial". Is this a bug, or am I using the library incorrectly?

[BGL] - filesystem graph

Hi, I would like to know how to "best" represent a filesystem using BGL. In this case the filesystem I want to describe is the unix/linux filesystem and its various paths from the root node "/". My questions: 1. What kind of graph is this filesystem and what is best to use in BGL to describe this? 2. How can I also best describe symbolic links (symlinks) and what kind of graph would this be, does this graph defer from the above? 3. How can I describe the metadata of a file (including symlinks) using BGL eg. given a path /usr/bin/ls I also want to stores its creation date, acl etc in BGL, how can I best describe this, is there where properties come in handy? 4. Are there any examples on this anywhere and/or does the BGL book describe any examples on this? Thanks Shams
