Hello people! I am a new boost user, and I am trying to implement a console for a game, which binds console commands to functions. These functions can come from different objects and this is why I decided to try using boost. I am using Visual Studio 8.0 SP1. I have something like this: //all functions are of generic structure //the return nothing and they take a vector of arguments typedef boost::function1< void, std::vector<std::string>& > funcHolder; //I also have a hash table, which holds function references and the //relative commands: std::map<std::string, funcHolder> commands; //Finally I have a function: void Console::addCommand(const String &command, funcHolder f) { std::map<String, funcHolder>::iterator t = commands.find(command); if(t == commands.end()) commands.insert( make_pair(command, f) ); else commands[command] = f; } All of these things are members of a Console class. So once I added these, I tried adding this line to the constructor: addCommand("clear", boost::bind(&Console::clear, this); //clear method void Console::clear( vector<std::string>& args ) { lines.clear(); } During compilation I get C4180 warnings. I have heard that those are due to VS8.0 SP1 compiler bugs, so I ignore them but then I get a following error: Project : error PRJ0002 : Error result 1 returned from 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\VC\bin\cl.exe'. Compiler basically crashes. Any ideas what might be wrong? I thank everyone in advance, Artyom

[Boost.Serialization] code works with gcc 4.1.2 but does not compile with gcc 3.3.3

I have written code to serialize a class hierarchy (with lots of shared_ptrs, strings, vectors etc.). This compiles (and works) on gcc 4.1.2 (OpenSuse 10.3). When trying to compile it on an older machine (gcc 3.3.3) I am getting lots of compiler errors which seem to boil down to the issue the the (de)serialization code fails to instantiate some abstract class in the hierarchy. I understand that instantiating these classes has to fail, what I do not understand is why the same code compiles with gcc 4.1.2... any ideas? [Serialization] Need help with wide character i/o

Hello, I am looking for some help in following instructions to create a wide character archive that I found from the boost serialization documentation: Actually the reason I am on this path is because my code is crashing if I try to do this in a normal way. No, I don't see this example, I was reading the documentation and example about regex iterator and not regex token iterator. I search on other website but don't find this example. I will study it. Hello; I try to extract an url from a webpage and it's almostly done but completly unoptimised : Before I try with a regex iterator. But I don't understand the documentation. I past to many time on this way, so I try an other way : I get my webpage with libcurl then I replace all " " by a "\n" like that : string::size_type i = 0; while (( i = page_a_analyser.find(' ', i ) ) != (string::npos)) { page_a_analyser.replace(i++, 1, "\n" ); } then I apply the regex : boost::regex rexp(".*(http:\\/\\/.+)\"*.*"); and I get this result : http://www.nolife-tv.com/" http://www.nolife-tv.com"> http://www.nolife-tv.com/images/stories/noiz/1.jpg" http://www.nolife-tv.com/component/option,com_poll/task,results/id,16/Itemi…';" http://www.joomla.org" http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" http://www.omniture.com and so on... I will cut and get only the url without the " or ' why this regex get the " with it? I put the close bracket before the " so why? Hi, If I create a new class, my_class, am I allowed to mark it as follows: BOOST_CLASS_IMPLEMENTATION ( my_class , boost::serialization::primitive_type ) The comments in level.hpp say that it won't call serialization code, thus I believe (and experience) that I don't need to provide either: template<class Archive> void my_class::serialize(Archive &ar, const unsigned int version) or template<class Archive> void serialize(Archive &ar, my_class &t, const unsigned int version) The comments also say that 'It presumes a member function or template in the archive class that can handle this type.' Does this mean that current archives (text, xml, and binary) are not able to use new primitive types without altering the archive to handle the new primitive? As I try it, both the text and xml archives use stream operators to convert my_class to a string and archive that. The binary archive casts my_class to a void* and outputs sizeof(my_class) bytes to the archive. It this expected behavior? Thanks, Andy.

Problem in using graphml.cpp..

Hello, I am having problems with running a threads program and was windering if someone could help. Hi, since ptr_vector are non copyable, how would i got baout making assignment from one ptr_vector to another.. i.e. ptr_vector<Foo> t; ptr_vector<Foo> t2; // some coding. t = t2;
