BGL and reversing / moving edges

G'day, I was hoping someone might be able to tell me if they've run into any situations using BGL where they needed to move (or reverse (i.e. flip the source and target)) an edge within a graph implemented as an adjacency_list. I'm working on an implementation of an algorithm for max. weight bipartite matching ("the assignment problem"), and one of the assumptions in the algorithm is that non-matched edges are directed from one subgraph, A, to the other subgraph, B, and matched edges are directed the other way. Over the course of growing the matching, a simple way to add and remove edges from the candidate set is just to reverse the edge, thus the need for some way to reverse the edge within BGL. I don't think I can just remove and then re-add the edge in the other direction, primarily because doing so will (I believe) invalidate any edge_descriptors referring to that edge. In particular, there are property maps keeping track of the weight of edges, the predecessors of certain nodes, etc. that use edge descriptors as keys. I've spent a fair bit of time reading the documentation and looking through the implementation of adjacency_lists (incl. edge_list_impl), and I'm not really sure of a way to either move an edge directly within a graph, or even to create a new edge from another s.t. they have the same edge_descriptor (in general a bad thing, probably). Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks, -Josh

bjam and windows command line problem.

I have Win98 in Spanish, and I use Borland C++ Builder 5.0 (its bcc32.exe corresponds to is BCC5.5.1) I have boost 1.29.0 installed at: "C:\Libraries\boost\Repository\boost" I've downloaded bjam for Microsoft Windows: >bjam -v Boost.Jam Version 3.1.0. adjacency_matrix

Hello all, I'm new to the list and to Boost in general and am trying to use an adjacency_matrix in order to plot coordinates (hopefully that is a good use for it). I just started trying to learn it and have entered the sample program from page 237 into my compiler (VS.NET) Below is the program I have entered. I am getting errors in that print_vertices, print_edges, and print_graph are undefined and are not members of boost. Any help apprechiated! VC7 says 'fatal C1067' compiling multi_array?

Greetings: I'm using VC7 and boost_1_29_0 to compile this code that is using multi_array.hpp. typedef boost::multi_array<double, 4> theta4_t; typedef theta4_t::index index; theta4_t Theta_Trun( boost::extents[10000][2][10][256] ); I'm receiving this error: "fatal error C1067: compiler limit: debug information module size exceeded" Of course, the code compiles fine using the "Release" configuration, but I need the "Debug" one also. Is there a workaround for this, other than the 'make your variables shorter' suggested in the VC7 documentation? Thanks, -Clift

Regex Match() Abortion

This probably is annoying me to no end. I have a string that I am matching against a pattern called 'sql'. My program tests 'sql' against 14 possible patterns. The patterns are in an array of strings. EVERYTHING works except for the last pattern. And even then, only when the 2nd sub-expression is longer than a certain length. For example, this works: insert into test (one,two,three) values () Through a lot of testing, I have seen that after the comma delimitted list in the second sub-expression surpasses a certain length, then my program gets aborted at the line if(sqlRegex.Match (sql)) { I am running the latest version of boost regex++, and I am running g++ 2.96 on Linux. I ran gdb, and I seemed to have narrowed down the problem to c_str(), but this is not logical. Also, I tried just adding another element to checks, just trying, but that didn't work. Also, I had no such problem for the other 12 cases, it only happens with this last insert case. Visual Studio 6 maintained at 255-character limit on identifiers in its debug information. You'll see this warning with just about any usage of STL containers and non-simple data types. It's basically harmless... annoying, but harmless. Hi, I am trying to write my own iterator - class and using for that the boost::iterator_adaptor. I could find on the webpage several examples of how to connect an existing iterator like std::string::iterator or a simple array as "base-class" for my new iterator, but what can I do if I dont have any base-iterator? In the documentation I found the following sentence: "The Iterator Adaptor library allows you transform an arbitrary ``base'' type into a standard-conforming iterator with the behaviors you choose. Doing so is especially easy if the ``base'' type is itself an iterator." In my situation I dont have any base type which is an iterator, so how should I now create such a base-type? Which are the specifications of such a base-type? Where can I get information on how to create a new base-type? Spirit has been accepted into boost, so i guess this is the correct group for posting this question. Hello everyone, I was wondering, while looking at the source files, why the date_iterator doesn't provide an operator--() ??? boost::iterator_adaptor

Hi, I am trying to write my own iterator - class and using for that the boost::iterator_adaptor. I could find on the webpage several examples of how to connect an existing iterator like std::string::iterator or a simple array as "base-class" for my new iterator, but what can I do if I dont have any base-iterator? In the documentation I found the following sentence: "The Iterator Adaptor library allows you transform an arbitrary ``base'' type into a standard-conforming iterator with the behaviors you choose. Doing so is especially easy if the ``base'' type is itself an iterator." In my situation I dont have any base type which is an iterator ( as base type I have a simple int ), so how should I now create such a base-type? Which are the specifications of such a base-type? Where can I get information on how to create a new base-type? The matrix I am working with is a set of weights for a neural net. I am using a kalman filtering library (http://www.acfr.usyd.edu.au/technology/bayesianfilter/Bayes++.htm) that treats the weights as a vector. So, I'm not really sure how to answer your question. I guess I would say that I need to access a vector as a concatenation of the rows or columns of the matirx (for this purpose it does not matter as long as it is consistent). However, copying undering data() member is working for now, although not as quickly as I would like. -- Stephen

Hi Stephen Yes, just use a (1, n) or (n, 1) matrix as appropriate and do matrix operations instead of vector ops. The results will be correct as long as you make sure you have a correctly dimensioned matrix in place of your vector (i.e one that matches your vectors size and orientation). I've just encountered this problem and it looks like a MS bug. Not sure it deserves a Boost workaround but I thought it would be nice to let you know (in case you don't already). But on second thought, perhaps two alternatives are (1) provide a helper template for clients to use when deriving from X to automatically declare the static create()/weak_this pair, or (2) use an intrusive reference counting approach for X. If an intrusive approach ultimately works better for us, what should I do as a boost 1.29.0 user: use counted_base/shared_from_this, or intrusive_ptr (which I admittedly haven't even looked at)?
